Quartet Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital opened its doors in October of 2016. Our practices were formerly located at 220 High House Road in Cary. The Quartet Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital houses three specialty veterinary practices under one roof: Veterinary Surgical Referral Practice, Animal Emergency Clinic of Cary, and Veterinary Rehabilitation & Pain Management Hospital. T

hese established practices have served the community for many years and we are excited to continue to do so in our beautiful new facility on Carpenter Fire Station Road. We chose the name “Quartet” because a quartet is a harmonious group of four working together; our quartet is comprised of our specialty practice hospital, the pets we care for, the pets’ owners, and their primary veterinarians/our referring veterinarians. Through the collaboration of these four parties, we achieve the best outcomes for the pets we care for. At Quartet, we offer outstanding care for our patients while providing the highest level of service to their owners and maintaining close relationships with our referring veterinary practices.

Meet this brave 1-year-old Dachshund who faced a big challenge—a congenital birth defect in his right rear leg. 🐾

Pes Varus (“Bow-Leggedness”) is a hereditary condition common in Dachshunds, where the inside of the lower tibia stops growing too soon. This causes the leg to twist inward, creating an “O-shaped” bow-leg and making it hard for pups to walk and play comfortably.

Thanks to 🩺 Dr. Gallagher 🩺and our expert surgical team, a corrective tibial osteotomy was performed to straighten and realign his leg. Now, this little doxie is on the road to a happier, more active life! We’re proud to help pets live their best lives—one step at a time.

🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Meet Ashley, one of our senior anesthesia technicians! Since joining us in 2020, Ashley’s infectious laughter and calming presence have helped countless pets feel at ease—even the most nervous patients gravitate toward her gentle touch.

Ashley’s journey began in hospitality, earning her BS from the University of Central Florida before following her heart into veterinary medicine. After moving to North Carolina, she became a Registered Veterinary Technician and has spent over 15 years mastering everything from specialty surgery to holistic care.

When she’s not caring for your beloved pets, Ashley is adventuring with her husband, two kids, and her rescue pup Saeris (found in a ditch and now living her best life!). She loves beach days, reading, arts and crafts, and cooking up new recipes. We’re grateful to have Ashley’s expertise and compassion on our team—she truly makes Quartet a special place for pets and their people! 💙🐾

🌟 PATIENT SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Meet Louie, a playful pup who came to Quartet after breaking his elbow during some at-home fun. Because his leg was too small for a traditional spica splint, our team put their heads together and found a creative solution—complete with one of Kamie’s signature bandage masterpieces! 🧡

Louie left us not just on the mend, but also sporting a custom-made cape fit for a true king! We’re so proud to help pets like Louie get back to their adventures, one creative touch at a time!🐾

Meet Archie, a brave 6-year-old dachshund who came to us completely unable to walk due to a severe spinal disc injury (IVDD).
After a thoughtful discussion with Dr. Gallagher, Archie’s family chose surgery to give him the best shot at regaining his mobility—and hope.
We’re thrilled to share that just one day after surgery, Archie was already standing on his back legs! Now, he’s back home and doing fantastic, thanks to his determination and the love of his family.
Archie’s journey is a reminder that with expert care and a little courage, incredible recoveries are possible. 🐾💙

Meet Enzo, a brave 14-year-old cockapoo who’s been facing some tough challenges. Recently, Enzo’s family noticed he was more tired than usual and not eating well. After some tests run by his primary vet, it was discovered an abdominal (splenic) mass on top of his chronic renal insufficiency.
Thanks to Dr. Gallagher and our dedicated surgical team, Enzo underwent a successful splenectomy and was able to return home the very next day! 🩺
We’re so proud of Enzo’s resilience and grateful to be part of his journey to better health. 💙🐾

💙Meet Indy, a brave 4-year-old Boston Terrier who was facing a tough challenge.💙

Indy presented for an urgent evaluation of re**al bleeding and a two-week history of intermittent re**al prolapse. Dr. Brinkley was able to palpate a re**al polyp upon examination, which was the cause of his bleeding. A re**al polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue that develops on the lining of the re**um. While most polyps are benign (non-cancerous), some are precancerous and can eventually develop into re**al cancer if not removed. 🩺

Dr. Brinkley was able to successfully remove the polyp in surgery, to ensure Indy is feeling back to his playful self soon! We are so honored to be a part of his journey🐾

Meet Paris, a brave 10-year-old French Bulldog who’s showing us all what resilience looks like! 💪🐾

Recently, Paris was diagnosed with a mesenchymal cell tumor on her left rear leg. While these tumors can be locally aggressive, Paris’s family and our team are determined to give her the best possible care. After a thorough evaluation and cytology, we discussed all options—from advanced imaging and biopsy to surgery, radiation, and even palliative care.

Paris's family decided to move forward with surgically removing the tumor on her leg, as well as a tumor on her thyroid glad Dr. Brinkley discovered on a CT scan. She was able to return home to her family the following, to rest and recover in her safe space. 💙
