Olde Carthage Farm We are a small family owned and run organic farm currently offering strawberries, blueberries, grapes and flowers. We do things the hard way...the right way.

We are a small family owned and family run organic farm. We currently have strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, Muscadine grapes, tomatoes, and flowers. We use no pesticides, no herbicides and if there's a weed, we have to bend over and pull it by hand. For example:
-We've planted a beneficial pollinator habitat consisting of 12 species of native North Carolina wildflowers surrounding all our

crops;
-We depend on beneficial insects to help fight off pests. This summer we released 4200 ladybugs to help fight off spider mites;
-We have provided nesting habitat for brown bats and purple martins, which help control insect populations on our farm;
-Instead of treated posts for our grape vine arbor, we’ve used untreated Black Locust post from Western North Carolina;
-No 10-10-10 or other synthetic fertilizers on our farm. Instead we use OMRI approved natural fertilizers such as fish emulsion;
-In an effort to be a sustainable farm, we are raising Sorgum-Sudan grass to make our own organic compost.

Change of plans. Harvey has decided it’s just toooo hot. He is taking tomorrow and Monday off. We will reopen Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM. Sorry for the change up.

Flowers are blooming at olde Carthage Farm. In addition to blueberries we have flowers and honey available now at the farm.
Flowers. We have pick-your-own gladiolus in many colors available now. It’s $3 per stem. We will also have Zinnias, celosia, giant marigolds, and cosmos by the first week of July. We have some snapdragons but my mom likes to look at them too much to sell them.
Honey. We have honey from our bees at the farm. The supply is limited. Call Harvey for more information on the honey. 919-353-0179.
Blueberries. Blueberries are coming on strong. The bushes are loaded. We have pre-picked and pick-your-own blueberries available now.
Strawberries. It’s hard to believe but we still have strawberries in the field. The berries are smaller and there are not as many as we had a month ago but the are delicious. Pick-your-own only.

Let’s pick blueberries! We are open for pick-your-own certified organic blueberries. Our blueberry picking hours will be from 8AM to 2PM Monday - Saturday.
We have SEVEN different blueberry varieties. Each variety has its own unique flavor profile.
(New Hanover, Legacy, Premier, Powderblue, Columbus, Climax, Tifblue )
We will share additional information on each variety as the season progresses.

We will have Pre-picked blueberries beginning Wednesday(June 10th). The pre-picked blueberries will be available after 9 AM. You can call Harvey at (919) 353-0179 to reserve a bucket.

There are still strawberries available. We will only have pick-your-own strawberries for the rest of the season. The strawberry field is open today and tomorrow( June 5th & 6th).

Strawberry picking tomorrow morning at Olde Carthage Farm! We will have pre-picked and pick-your-own certified organic strawberries tomorrow (June 2nd). We will open for pick-your-own strawberries at 8:00 am. Pre-picked berries will be available at 10:00 am. Please call Harvey at (919) 353-0179 to reserve a bucket.

Blueberry update. We are seeing the first ripe blueberries of the season. The first bucket of blueberries left the farm last week. We don’t have enough to officially announce the opening of blueberry season, but it’s close. We will keep you posted.

It’s been an extremely long and enjoyable strawberry season (beginning March 31st). I hope we can get a couple more picks this season but the end is near. Our family would like to express a sincere thank you to everyone who values organic farming practices enough to make Olde Carthage Farm your strawberry farm. I’m not complaining about the much-needed rain over the last few days but I’m happy tomorrow looks like a dry day so we can pick some strawberries.
We will open at 8 AM for pick your own certified organic Strawberries. We will also have a few pre-picked berries, but we’re not taking reservations since we can’t predict how many will have.

Enjoy a few certified organic strawberries over Memorial Day weekend. We will be open for pick-your-own strawberries Saturday (May 23rd) at 8:00 am. We will not have any pre-picked berries available.
We finally got some much needed rain but don’t worry the strawberries are safe and dry under the hoops.
Please be patient as we will need a few minutes to raise the covers tomorrow morning.
