🇺🇸 Remembering September 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the countless heroes who ran toward danger to help others.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military members, and ordinary people who showed extraordinary courage. We remember the families who lost loved ones and the communities forever changed that day.

We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙

From all of us at Smith County Animal Clinic, we are grateful for those who serve, protect, and care for others every day.

Edited to add: All 4 dogs have recovered nicely! Quick treatment with antivenin is usually very effective!

4 snakebite dogs in a matter of days! Be on the lookout and if your pet gets bitten they need to be treated quickly! We do carry antivenin for multiple snake species.

Super thankful tonight for awesome staff willing to stay til midnight to treat some sick pups!

☀️ Extreme Heat Is Dangerous for Pets ☀️

As temperatures climb, remember that if it’s hot for you, it’s even hotter for your pets.

🐾 A few simple steps can help keep them safe:

* 💧 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water.
* 🌳 Make sure they have access to shade or, even better, air conditioning.
* 🚶 Walk dogs early in the morning or after the sun goes down.
* 🐾 Check the pavement with the back of your hand—if it’s too hot for you to hold for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for their paws.
* 🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes. Temperatures can become deadly incredibly fast.

Signs of heatstroke include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red gums
• Weakness or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Collapse
