🐾 Welcome, Kona!

Today we’re welcoming Kona, a Pit Bull/Basset Hound mix from Marietta, Georgia, to the AK9A family! Kona is here to work on barking, whining, aggression, and fearfulness, particularly his reactions to unfamiliar people around the home. He may bark when someone approaches the house and can become fearful or protective when strangers get too close to him or his family.

Kona also experiences anxiety during thunderstorms and car rides and may whine when he sees a large dog. Ian and Katherine want to help him become more comfortable in these situations while building better ways for him to respond when he feels uncertain or threatened.

Kona is a loving dog and a great companion. His primary goals are to improve his comfort around strangers, reduce his reactivity, and replace fear-based responses with more appropriate behaviors.

We’re excited to help Kona build confidence, develop better coping skills, and become a more reliable companion at home and in public!

🎓🐾 Congratulations to Todd on Graduating Basic Obedience! 🐾🎓

Todd, a Pit Bull mix from Woodstock, Georgia, started training as a high-energy, enthusiastic pup who loved greeting everyone with plenty of jumping, mouthing, and affection! His big personality was impossible to miss, and he definitely kept us on our toes. 😂🐶

Through consistent work on foundational obedience, impulse control, appropriate greetings, and exposure to new environments, Todd has made some wonderful progress. He’s still the same lovable goofball we all know and adore, just a little more polished and much more of a distinguished gentleman! 🎩🐾

A special shoutout to Todd’s mom, Keely, for her dedication and commitment throughout the training process. Her consistency played an important role in helping Todd build better habits and put his training into practice.

Some dogs leave an impression long after training is finished, and Todd is definitely one of those dogs who sticks with you. ❤️

🐾 Welcome, Tux!

Today we’re welcoming Tux, a Pit Bull/Bulldog mix from Hiram, Georgia, to the AK9A family! Tux is here to work on chewing, barking, whining, aggression, and leash manners. He can become overly excited when guests arrive, running toward them and trying to jump up, and he may continue barking aggressively even after being told that everything is okay.

Tux can also become anxious when delivery drivers such as FedEx or UPS arrive and sometimes reacts with aggressive barking toward other dogs or people. Heather and David want to help him learn how to respond more appropriately in these situations and become more comfortable around guests.

Tux is a smart and loving dog who cares deeply about his family. Their goals are to help him become consistently friendly and calm around visitors while building better leash skills so they can confidently take him on walks and to parks.

We’re excited to help Tux build better manners, improve his confidence, and become a more reliable companion both at home and out in the community!

🎓🐾 Congratulations to Lily on Graduating Puppy Fundamentals! 🐾🎓

Lily, a Lab/Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix from Canton, Georgia, picked up her foundational obedience skills quickly and made wonderful progress throughout her training. With her pawrents, Tom and Cher, supporting her along the way, Lily worked hard to build confidence and become more comfortable in new environments. 💗

One of her biggest challenges was unfamiliar sounds and loud noises, which initially made her nervous and uncomfortable. Through gradual exposure, desensitization, consistency, and positive reinforcement, Lily learned to work through those experiences instead of becoming overwhelmed by them.

As her confidence grew, so did her ability to focus and respond to her handlers in increasingly distracting environments. Today, Lily can confidently enjoy outings at the park and even perform impressive sit-stays in busy places like Home Depot! 🐾

Lily’s progress is a great example of what patience, consistency, and continued practice can accomplish. Building confidence takes time, but Lily has shown just how much progress can happen with the right foundation.

🐾 Welcome, Haven!

Today we’re welcoming Haven, a Lab mix from White, Georgia, to the AK9A family! Haven is here to work on jumping, chewing, digging, barking, whining, and fearfulness. She gets excited when her family comes home, whines when she wants her daddy, and has a habit of chewing on anything she can find, including shoes and hairbrushes.

Haven can also become reactive when she sees other dogs or people walking by. She may bark or growl, with her hair standing up along her back, and she can become especially excited around certain people.

Haven’s size and her love of giving kisses are two of the things Desiree and Christopher love most about her. Their goals are to improve her response to commands, help her develop better manners, and stop her from jumping on people.

We’re excited to help Haven build better habits, improve her obedience, and become a more confident and well-mannered companion at home and around others!

🎓🐾 Congratulations to Mani on Graduating Puppy Fundamentals! 🐾🎓

Mani, a Cavapoo from Woodstock, Georgia, has made some fantastic progress throughout his training! When he first started, he was a typical energetic puppy who was more interested in exploring and having fun than listening to his handler. Through consistent training, patience, and positive reinforcement, Mani has developed stronger impulse control, focus, and obedience skills. 💙

One of his biggest accomplishments has been learning to hold impressive sit-stays and down-stays even in highly distracting environments. That kind of progress shows just how much his engagement and ability to work through distractions have improved. 🐶🐾

A special shoutout to Mani’s mom, Srividhya, for her dedication, consistency, and compassionate approach throughout his training. Her commitment to helping Mani learn and succeed has been an important part of his progress.

We’re so proud of how far this little guy has come! Congratulations, Mani and Srividhya! Keep up the great work! 🎉🐾💙
