Before I turn the page on these memories, let me celebrate the beautiful life my first baby gave me. ❤️🐾
Puky, my first baby.
You came into my life when I was only 22, about to turn 23, still learning how to be a responsible adult and figuring out who I was going to become.
And somehow, you came to me at exactly the moment I needed you most.
For 13 years, you were there through the good, the bad, and the moments that felt like the absolute worst. You came along for the rides, the adventures, the quiet nights, the hard days, and all the little moments in between.
You were simply… there.
And at the time, I didn’t always realize just how much that meant.
In my head, it was simply, “Okay, we’re together. I know I’m safe.”
Because you were always my little angel.
My protector.
My shadow.
My very bossy little protector. 😂
You took your job so seriously, too.
I remember watching scary movies and looking over at you just to make sure you weren’t seeing something I couldn’t see. 😂
And honestly, you acted like you were ready to protect us from anything real or imaginary.
You were also my travel companion.
You traveled with me from Ensenada to Mexicali, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and St. Louis. You even joined me on one of the biggest adventures of our lives, driving Baja all the way to Los Cabos, taking the ferry, continuing through Mexico until we reached Colima, and then making our way back to Los Angeles.
There were so many more places on our bucket list.
But looking back now, I think maybe you never needed to see every place in the world.
You just needed to see them with me. ❤️
And if there is one memory I know I will carry with me forever, it’s the beach.
You loved the beach.
We went to so many together, and I know that every time I sit at our beach and watch the waves, a part of me will still be sitting there with you.
I’ll think about you.
I’ll smile.
And I’ll probably imagine you running around like a wild little horse, sniffing absolutely everything and, of course, eating anything you could possibly find. 😂
That was you.
My first baby.
My first lesson in what it means to love a dog with your whole heart.
People call them soul...
