Some of you may have noticed that our page has been quieter than usual for the last several weeks. On August 20th, we said our goodbyes to one of the sweetest, most loyal, and hilariously sassy dogs I have ever had the privilege of loving. It has been incredibly hard to process my grief. Hazel took us down a rescue journey that changed me and taught me so much about patience and truly working at the pace of the dog in front of you, not to meet my own selfish needs, but to meet hers. When I listened and learned from her, the magic happened. Hazel started out as a severe resource guarder around other dogs. She was also frightened of new people, and many things out in the world. The work we did together was one of the most beautifully rewarding training experiences of my life. She overcame so many fears and gained so much confidence. She didn't just live. She thrived! We had 15 years of love with this precious girl, and I am so thankful for every single one of them. Hazel touched many lives over the years. Her strong spirit, loving soul, and joyful sass has left an amazing legacy that I will always love and miss fiercely. Our lives are infinitely better because she was here.
