Hii Everyone!
I wanted to touch on a subject that is often asked in the salon.
………………….Post Clipping Alopecia
This is a condition that can affect any dog breed but is particularly prevalent in double-coated breeds like Pomeranians, and occurs when the natural hair growth cycle is disrupted due to clipping the coat. When a dog's double coat is clipped, it can disrupt the regular growth patterns of the hair follicles. This can lead to a period of hair loss and a delay in regrowth, resulting in patches of baldness on the dog's coat. This can happen on the first time or later down the road. It typically goes unnoticed in the beginning stages, as most pet parents attribute the noticeable reaction to other causes.

A damaged coat due to post clipping alopecia can have adverse effects on a dog's skin protection and the production of sebum. The coat serves as a natural barrier, shielding the skin from harmful UV rays, environmental elements, and potential irritants. When patches of baldness occur, the skin becomes more exposed, making it vulnerable to sunburn, insect bites, and scrapes. Additionally, the disrupted hair growth can impact the production of sebum, the skin's natural oil. Sebum plays a crucial role in maintaining skin health by moisturizing and protecting it. With post clipping alopecia, the dog's skin may become dry and susceptible to various skin conditions and opens the door for allergens to pe*****te the skin. This is one of the reasons it is important to maintain proper grooming practices and protect the integrity of their coat.

Lastly, once this condition takes hold, it can take months to resolve, but if left to progress, it is typically a condition that can not be reversed. 🐶🐾

🌟 Wishing everyone a fantastic day! As we gear up for the Memorial Day weekend, let's take a moment to honor and remember our courageous service members and be sure to reach out to any that you may know to show them our appreciation. A thank you and a hand shake will do well, but I’m sure a homemade pie or cold b**r will also do the trick 😜🥧🍻🇺🇸
Have a wonderful evening!

Does your dog love making messes as much as mine does? Benson has made a huge mess today. But I guess I’ll give him a pass. I mean, he did finally break open his chew toy he’s had for over 3 years! So I guess a congratulation is order here 🫡 But hey, as they say, 'a messy house is a sign of a happy dog' – right? 😉 Who needs a spotless home when you have a furry best friend to brighten up your day?

Hii! I want to shoutout to all the incredible mothers out there who juggle motherhood with the chaos of being a '🐶 mom.' You're like a superhero with two capes, saving lives and picking up 💩 with style. Hats off to the real masters of multitasking and unconditional love! ❤️ 💗 💕 🐾
Happy Mother's Day to all you lovely human beings!!

I hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday. So I wanted to share with y’all a quote that I have always loved but sometimes forget about. I hope this quote helps someone remember their worth and understand that if they don’t feel appreciated, find a new pack!

“Go where you are celebrated, not where you are tolerated!”

Life is too short to hang out with the wrong pack! Go where your tail wags the hardest. Surround yourself with those who celebrate your quirks and lift you up to new heights. After all, just like dogs, we thrive when we're celebrated, not just tolerated. 🐶❤️ XOXO

What’s up Friends, I hope you all are having a happy weekend! I'll be hanging out with Benson and enjoying some quality time with my hammock and the beautiful Sun! Be sure to take a break from the daily grind with some good friends and happy dogs! 🐶🍻
