While we never forget the pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, today is a day to pause, remember, and celebrate their lives and the love they brought into ours. 🌈🐾

One thing we don’t always think about when we become foster parents is the piece of our heart we give to every dog who comes through our doors.

So today, we aren’t just remembering our own beloved dogs. We are remembering our foster dogs, too. And we are remembering the dogs we tried desperately to save but found too late.

Every single dog PBSF has ever been involved with has meant something to us.

Every one.

Some stayed for days. Some stayed for months. Some found their forever families. And some never got the chance to know what a forever home was.

But while they were with us, we made sure they knew what it felt like to be safe. To be cared for. To be loved.

For some dogs, their last breath came far too soon. There was nothing more we could do to save them, and as heartbreaking as it was, letting them go was the kindest and most loving thing we could do.

But we made sure they knew they mattered.

They mattered to us.

Their lives mattered.

And even when we couldn’t save their lives, we could save them from being alone, afraid, or unloved in their final moments.

Those dogs remain with us; in our memories, in the stories we tell, in the empty spaces they left behind and in the broken pieces of our hearts that will always belong to them.

So today, as we pause to reflect and remember, PBSF remembers every dog who has touched our lives and our hearts.

The ones who stayed for years.

The ones who stayed for days.

The ones we saved.

The ones we couldn’t save.

And the ones who were only ours for the briefest of moments.

Because in rescue, a life doesn’t have to be long to be meaningful.

And a dog doesn’t have to stay forever to leave paw prints on our hearts. ❤️

Today, we remember them all.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever a part of PBSF. 🌈🐾
