This is a win today for the all the amazing animals, they all deserve a safe furever home!

GREAT NEWS: Today Gov. Reynolds signed the felony animal torture bill (HF 2348) into law, marking a huge VICTORY for Iowa’s companion animals. The new law finally makes the torture of companion animals a felony on the first offense in Iowa.

Along with lawmakers and advocates, Ember the puppy – a survivor of horrific abuse who arrived at the ARL as the bill was being debated – was in attendance at the bill signing held at the ARL. During the signing, Sen. Mike Bousselot, R-Ankeny, fittingly said he'll now think of the new law as “Ember’s Law.”

Thank you to everyone who reached out to their lawmakers urging them to support the bill, and thank you to the lawmakers who unanimously supported this effort. Today we’re celebrating this win for the animals!
