Following this Indiana rescue in his new detection job.

Hello everyone. As you see “Arson K-9 Riley’s” page has been renamed “Arson K-9 Apollo”. After Riley passed away this page sat quiet for 3 years. I have been blessed with my 4th ignitable Liquid K-9 Apollo, so I am happy to revive Riley’s page and hopeful all of you will help me. I will work hard to keep it updated with pics and what he is up to. He graduate from the Maine Academy fully Certified in August and has been working for Adam’s County Fire Rescue in North Denver since that time.

Apollo is a rescued pup from a small town in Indiana. He went through months of training to become certified and I could not be prouder to be his partner. He is no longer searching for a meal and a safe place to sleep, he is searching for people who intentionally set fires.

PLEASE share and follow Apollo so he can share his story! J

Some dogs can get so focused on a task that they ignore the world around them. This is especially true for canine athletes like hunting and working dogs. A new study from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is the first to investigate what may be early signs that a hunting dog will overheat while it’s zeroed in on its work.

“For competitive sporting dogs, their drive can outweigh their self-preservation,” said Christopher Frye, D.V.M. ’11, associate professor and senior author on the recent study.
