Happy National Veterinary Technician Week! We are lucky to have three Licensed Veterinary Technicians, and 1 student here at Middlebranch! A little history of the profession. In 1961, SUNY Delhi started the first program to train Veterinary Technicians. In 1976, NY required students to complete an AVMA approved program to be able to take the licensing exam. There are currently 12 AVMA accredited programs in NY. Once licensed, 24 hours of continuing education is required every 3 years. Veterinary Technicians are vital to the Veterinary field. We could not get through the day without their knowledge and skills. Here are a few of their jobs taking blood, monitoring anesthesia, radiographs, client education, dental hygienist and so much more. Join us in thanking these amazing ladies for all they do! 😊😺🐶🐾
