Here’s a few good reminders!

🐑🐐 Getting started with halter breaking? Keep it simple.

Building trust is the foundation of a successful lamb or goat project — and it starts with the right approach from day one.

Use a small catch pen to calmly handle your animal, then spend a few minutes each day working on tying, handling, and eventually leading. Stay patient, avoid force, and focus on rewarding the right behavior.

Short, consistent sessions and ending on a positive note will go a long way in creating a calm, responsive animal in the ring. 💪

Yesterday #71 decided to have her kids while I was away at a women’s retreat. First baby she delivered unassisted, but numbers 2 and 3 needed a little help. I’m so very thankful for great friends who are also close neighbors who are skilled, able and willing to come to our aid!
Mom and babies are doing well!
And that’s a wrap on Boer kidding season!

We have 2 Nigerians and 1 Toggenberg(bred to a Nigerian buck) due to kid in April.

Saturday afternoon Twist blessed me with a beautiful doe! Officially my last kid from Hard to Handle! She will be staying with me. I was hopeful for a doe out of this breeding. Mom wasn’t too sure about the whole thing, but after time and lots of encouragement both mom and baby are doing well.

The extra big c section baby boy is doing pretty well. Still not the greatest eater yet, but he’s made a friend in our other little bottle baby girl of Remi’s.
Polly is healing up and seems to be feeling fairly well.

5 more does to kid but not sure exactly when they are due besides Gelato should be due around the 31st.

I’ve had goats since 1997 but there are still “1st”s to be had!

Polly needed a c section today for a giant single buckling. He weighed in at over 13 pounds. Much to big for this first time mama.

Thank you so very much to Veterinary Services of Oregon!
