The Carlton Vet staff are having a garage sale on October 17th at 9:00 AM. We are coming to the clinic parking lot for the sale. Please note, there will not be access to the building or bathrooms. Staff are not working for the clinic on Saturday, just getting together for a fun sale! See you there!

🦇 World Rabies Day (9/28/26): What Yamhill County Needs to Know!

Did you know that Oregon is having a record-breaking year for rabies? State health officials have confirmed 30 cases of rabies in 2026—the highest number in state history.

While Yamhill County currently has 0 confirmed cases this year, our neighbors in Marion, Clackamas, and Benton counties have all found rabid bats. Because bats are the primary source of rabies in Oregon, staying vigilant keeps our community safe.

⚠️ If you see a sick, downed, or dead bat:

Never touch it. Keep children and pets far away.

If it's inside your house: Safely contain it under a box or bucket using heavy gloves (do not damage it, as health officials need it intact to test for rabies).

If a pet or person is bitten: Wash the wound with soap and water for 15 minutes immediately and seek medical/veterinary care.
