My Husky Bailey does the same thing…. Without my permission 😭 thankfully her leave it command is mastered but she’s a savage. Sometimes you can’t change a dog’s personality but much like this video you can work on preventing and making the dogs more immune to things which causes their reactivity happen less.

Lucy the Malinois! She’s as stubborn as they come! This happens when a dog so intelligent doesn’t receive the mental stimulation in time! She barely knows how to lay down! So we start with giving her more structure, less freedom until proven she can act right! Thankfully she’s a good dog just lets her excitement overcome her!

You can damage a dog two ways. Won the worst way in the most common, Trauma. The second way is never letting your dog think. Some owners treat dogs as children instead of what they are Dogs. Trust me, I spoil my dogs but with treats(responsibility not just giving them for no reason especially the really bad ones with chemicals and sweets🤦🏽‍♂️. Many dogs are bred to work and it’s understandable that many won’t much like my husky, but that doesn’t mean I don’t stimulate her brain daily. When you do everything for a dog because you think they are weak or cute or even incapable you are doing an injustice no matter how pure your heart is.

You’re not struggling with your dog’s behavior because there’s a shortage of free, quality, transformative training information.

You’re struggling because:

1/ You’ve been programmed to think that your dog is a fragile creature, who if exposed to any challenge, pressure, consequence… will crumble due to the “trauma.”

2/ You’ve been programmed to believe that if you appropriately discipline your dog, they will be sad, dislike you, and you will ruin your relationship.

3/ You’ve been programmed to equate being soft, permissive, and conflict avoidant with being emotionally progressive, sophisticated, and humane.

The truth? All 3 are terribly dysfunctional, unhealthy messages which have derailed what is actually a simple, common sense, easily navigated canine/human dynamic… once the toxic, undermining messaging is removed.

On one hand, finding your way with your dog in this day and age is easier than ever. Everything you need information and tool wise is available to anyone who has their head screwed on straight. On the other hand, finding your way is harder than ever. Not because the training is actually difficult, but because we’ve become a society of soft, permissive, fragile, doormats.

Your dog is ready to transform, as soon as you are.

TLDR: Grow a pair. Your dog isn’t the fragile, confused one, you are.
