🐾Chaos is only 3.5 months old, but he’s already fighting a battle no puppy should have to face. What was thought to be a routine hernia repair turned out to be a severe abdominal wall defect requiring advanced surgery to save his life. For his owner — an Army veteran managing a 90% VA disability rating — the estimated $4,000-$6,000 procedure simply wasn’t possible alone. That’s where Helping Paws stepped in.

Because of donor support, Chaos now has access to the specialized care he needs and the chance to grow up healthy, loved, and safe with his family.

At Helping Paws Foundation and Mohnacky Animal Hospitals, we believe caring for a veteran’s pet is caring for the veteran. The bond between people and pets can be life-changing — especially for those who have served our country. 🇺🇸

✨Right now, Dr. Craig Mohnacky is personally matching every donation dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000.

Your gift today helps pets like Chaos get a second chance — and reminds local veterans that they are not alone. Visit the link in our bio to learn more!

🐾Harley got a second chance because people showed up.

When Jay, a U.S. Navy veteran, learned his 13-year-old dog Harley needed urgent surgery, he was facing an impossible situation. The cost was out of reach, even after exhausting every option.

But our community stepped in. Through Helping Paws, Mohnacky Animal Hospitals, and the friends and family who rallied around their GoFundMe, Harley got the care he needed—and made it home.

Now, Jay has chosen to donate the $346 raised for Harley back to Helping Paws… to help another family. And with Dr. Mohnacky matching every dollar, that gift instantly doubled to $692.

That’s how impact grows.

✨Now it’s our turn. Dr. Mohnacky has pledged to match up to $20,000 in donations. ✨

Give today and be part of the next story! You can join our fundraiser by visiting this link: https://givebutter.com/2026-matching-gift-g9gpib

Two months into 2026, and the numbers tell a powerful story. 💙

In January and February, the Mohnacky Animal Hospitals and Helping Paws Foundation family showed up in a big way for the pets — and the people — who needed us most.

🐾 69 no-cost exams for military pets
🐾 127 no-cost vaccinations for military pets
🐾 188 low-cost spays & neuters
🐾 51 low-cost wellness exams for families in need
🐾 Six no-cost surgeries for military pets, valued at $10,154

That's two months. That's real impact.

Together, locally owned Mohnacky Animal Hospitals and the Helping Paws Foundation exist for one reason: so that no service member, veteran, or low-income family ever has to surrender or lose a beloved pet simply because they can't afford care. Our hospitals provide the care. The Foundation funds the gap. And our community makes it all possible.

Our team was honored to be part of Zeus’ care journey. 💙
Thank you to the Helping Paws Foundation for helping make this outcome possible.

🐾💙 Because of supporters like you, Zeus got the care he needed.
Zeus’ family recently shared this heartfelt message after receiving financial assistance from Helping Paws Foundation:
“We had an outstanding experience with Dr. Souther and the entire team. From the very beginning, she was compassionate, thorough, and incredibly knowledgeable. Sabrina, Dr. Souther’s nurse, was also amazing — attentive, kind, and always willing to answer questions. The entire staff, including Christina, went above and beyond to support us during a stressful time. We are also deeply grateful to Helping Paws Foundation for providing financial assistance, which made Zeus’ treatment possible. That support meant more to us than words can express. Thank you all for treating Zeus like family.”
Helping Paws Foundation provides financial assistance for military families and others facing hardship so pets can receive critical veterinary care.

🇺🇸 Honoring Service. Restoring Bosky’s Stride. 🐾

When Bosky was diagnosed with a ruptured cruciate ligament (similar to a torn ACL in humans), his dad — a U.S. Army combat veteran who served from 2000-2005 — was facing a surgery estimate of several thousand dollars.

He turned to The Helping Paws Foundation for help.

With the Foundation's support, Bosky received his TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) surgery at Mohnacky Animal Hospital of Carlsbad, performed by Dr. Zoran Djordjevich — at no cost to his family.

Bosky’s dad's message to our team meant the world:

“I am so incredibly grateful to you and your entire team…your clinic gets an A+ in every way… I won’t hesitate to recommend your clinic to every person I interact with that has a furry animal. With much appreciation and gratitude.”

Stories like Bosky’s are exactly why the Helping Paws Foundation exists — to make sure the people who have served our country don’t have to face impossible choices when their pets need care.

We are deeply grateful for his service, and honored to help Bosky get back on his feet. ❤️🐾
Because no hero should have to choose between finances and their best friend.

🇺🇸 Giving back to those who serve, in a way that truly works for their families and their pets.

During the summer of 2025, Mohnacky Animal Hospitals launched free Saturday vaccine clinics for military families, often serving more than 100 dogs and cats per day. The response was overwhelming and made one thing clear: military families needed access that was easier, more flexible, and built into everyday life.

As a result, our Carlsbad, Vista, and Escondido hospitals now offer complimentary exams during normal business hours for military families, with vaccines provided at no cost through our Helping Paws Foundation.

No weekend clinic required. No added stress. Just convenient, compassionate care that helps keep pets healthy and families together.

Thank you to all who serve. We are honored to care for the pets who stand beside you.
