For eight years BoBo knew what it meant to be deeply loved. He knew the comfort and the warmth of companionship and the feeling of belonging to someone who cherished him. Sadly, outside factors and hardships changed everything. Now, Bobo is trying to make sense of a life that looks nothing like the one he once knew.

Older dogs face a unique set of challenges within the shelter and for dogs like Bobo, to put it simply, they just miss having a home. 💔 He deserves to spend his golden years surrounded by comfort, kindness and people who make him feel safe. YOU can be the person who reminds him that he's worth coming home to.

BoBo does have paralysis on the left side of his face, which means he can't blink his left eye, needing regular eye medication. Through numerous testings, this appears to have no known cause and he is otherwise a wonderful dog with a great personality. Our shelter is full to the brim with adorable dogs looking for second chances! Rescued from abandonment, neglect and uncertainty, it is only with your help that their next chapter is one of joy, love and new beginnings.

Our shelter in Carencro is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, for walk-in visits and adoptions, no appointment necessary! However, about 50% of our population are housed off site in foster homes, so if you're looking to meet a specific pup we recommend filling out an adoption form in order to connect with our team and make meet & greet arrangements: acadianaanimalaid.org/adopt.

We have just under two weeks left of Reduced Adoption Fees! Sponsored by Subaru, all dog and cat adoptions for the month of October are $50 across the board. All pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on all basic veterinary care and microchipped.

Calling all young animal lovers! ❤️ Our Jr. Volunteer Day is a chance for kids ages 10–15 to get hands-on experience with our animals while learning about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Looking for your new shadow? Bane is here to assist! This 8 month old boy is a happy, happy puppy that enjoys anything and everything that his humans & canine friends want to do! Go walking outside? Bane is there. 🐾 Want to take a nap on the couch? He is ready to snuggle under the blankets! 🤗 Love dancing in the rain? He is getting his rain coat ready! 🌧

We are teaming up with Best Friends Animal Society and Walmart to make a difference for shelter pets! THIS Friday, October 16th, we'll be at the Walmart off of Pinhook in Lafayette from 3-6pm. with adoptable dogs and cats. Look for our tent and bus and come meet some amazing animals looking for homes like yours.

Individual temperament and personality should matter far more than color and yet, the evidence that appearance hinders adoption is an unavoidable truth. Right now, black dogs are stacking up in our shelter and ALL of them are facing an extreme lack of adoption interest.

Nearly half of our entire dog population have black or dark coats and we desperately need help breaking this stigma. In many cases, overlooking these dogs is not a conscious intention, which is why it is so important to challenge ourselves to see the individual and the ways in which they fit into our lives. Prolonged time in the shelter amplifies stress, depression and anxiety.
