Thanks to ongoing interest, our group Senior Music Class led by Dakota Karper will be returning for another series of 10 weekly classes! Classes will start next Thursday on October 29th from 10:30AM to 12PM at The Cat and The Fiddle.

These classes offer a great opportunity to learn something new in a fun and low stress group setting which is welcoming to beginners with no prior music experience. There will of course be a Family Barn Dance as part of the upcoming Square Dance day at the Capon Bridge American Legion this Saturday, October 24th! These dances take place from 5 to 6PM and provide a great opportunity for families with younger kids to dance and laugh together.

Free music workshop coming up soon! As part of the next Capon Bridge Square Dance day on Saturday, October 24th, Joe Herrmann will be leading a Multi-Instrument Workshop from 3 to 4:30PM at the Capon Bridge American Legion.

Joe Herrmann is a founding member of the Critton Hollow Stringband and has a dedication to playing and sharing traditional Appalachian music that spans decades. If you've ever taken a class with Joe, you know what a privilege it is and won't want to pass up this opportunity to learn. String instrument players of all experience levels are welcome to attend.

The final Youth Ensemble Course of 2026 is starting later this month on October 28th! Led by Johanna Murray, The Sound of Soul will explore harmony, rhythm and expression through iconic Motown songs blending elements of Gospel, Pop, R&B, and Jazz. Classes will be open to all music students in grades 3-12 and all instruments will be welcome.

Classes will begin on October 28th and take place each Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30PM at The Cat and The Fiddle, continuing through December 2nd with a break on the week of Thanksgiving. Tuition, covering all 5 classes, will be $90 per student or free for students already receiving a Karper Creatives Scholarship.

The next Capon Bridge Square Dance is coming up in under a month! Join us at the Capon Bridge American Legion on Saturday, October 24th from 6 to 8PM for an evening of square dancing called by Dakota Karper with live music by the Critton Hollow String Band. No prior dance experience is needed and there will be food and drink available for purchase any time dancers need a break.

There will also be a music workshop led by Joe Herrmann earlier in the day from 3 to 4:30PM and a Family Barn Dance from 5 to 6PM. All events will be free to attend with donations accepted to support the Cacapon Music and Dance Foundation.
