What a GREAT SURPRISE! Chandler Urhahn, one of our former kennel technicians who recently left Cape Small for basic training with the Air Force, popped into the clinic to say Hi and even brought us treats! You could feel the pride from the team, and we are just so happy to see Chandler doing so well. What a perfect way to start the Labor Day holiday weekend. We salute all the men and women serving our country, especially Chandler! We look up to YOU, Chan Man! 🇺🇸 🫡

From her coat color to her breed, what a rare beauty! 💎 This is Babe, a sable-colored Burmese kitten. This breed is originally from the Thai-Burma border. Babe sailed right on through her First Kitten vaccines, and we can’t wait to watch her grow. 🐈‍⬛ 🐾

Dr. B’s birthday wish came true— a head full of hair again! 🤪

(Recently, we took updated pics of our veterinarians for our website and lobby TV. The photographer had some fun with Photoshop.)

Happiest of birthdays to Dr. Brian! 🎂

Our veterinarians are circled around ‘AWESOME ADDIE,’ who our entire team wishes all the best as she heads off to Mizzou College of Veterinary Medicine! 🙌
If you ask our doctors how to describe Addie & her years as a technician and kennel attendant, they’d say she ABSOLUTELY has the qualities needed to one day become an exceptional veterinarian. They said, she’s:
-Hard working
-Bright
-Observant
-Easy to get along with
-Always willing to come back in & help with after-hours emergencies
-Kind
-Our cat and kitten expert

Addie is one of four technicians at Cape Small Animal Clinic, who all recently were accepted into veterinary school, which isn’t easy at all. Our team is just beaming with pride and so very happy for each of them. All the best to Addie, as she works her last day with us today. We can’t wait see your future unfold, and thank you so much for being “AWESOME ADDIE!” 🌟

We are so proud of Hannah! Even when she started as a longtime technician with us, we just knew she was going to go out and do big things! 🌟

Why do some dairy cows develop difficult-to-treat udder infections?

That's the question second-year CVM student Hannah Jones is exploring this summer through the Veterinary Research Scholars Program.

Under the mentorship of Dr. Pamela Adkins, Hannah’s studying how an organism called Prototheca spreads between cows and their environments. Her research could one day help dairy producers improve herd health and reduce milk production losses.
