A huge congratulations to Leia on completing her second training package! 🎉

This adorable little doodle has been working hard on real world experiences, and her growth has been incredible. From navigating busy environments to practicing polite interactions with both people and other dogs, Leia has shown just how intelligent and capable she is.

One of her biggest accomplishments has been learning how to keep her cool and stay connected to her handler, even when exciting things are happening around her. Whether it’s meeting new people, seeing other dogs, or exploring new places, Leia has made tremendous progress in her social skills, confidence, and impulse control.

Watching her choose calm behavior, maintain attention, and work through distractions has been so rewarding. She’s not only becoming a well mannered companion, but also a dog who can confidently enjoy the world with her family.

Leia’s sweet personality, curiosity, and willingness to learn have made this journey such a joy. We’re incredibly proud of all the work she and her family have put in, and we can’t wait to see her continue to thrive in everyday life.

Great job, Leia, you’ve earned this graduation!

It’s Fun Fact Friday: Horse Edition 🐴👑

Horses are incredibly intelligent, social, and perceptive animals and some of their natural abilities are pretty amazing.

Did you know horses can sleep standing up? Their legs have a special system of tendons and ligaments that helps them remain upright while resting without constantly using their muscles. They do still lie down for deeper REM sleep, but being able to rest on their feet is an important survival adaptation.

Their ears are impressive too. A horse can move each ear independently and rotate them to help locate sounds coming from different directions. Those ear movements can also tell us a lot about what has their attention and how they may be feeling in the moment.

And while horses are often admired for their strength and athleticism, they’re also highly social animals. They naturally live in groups, form close bonds, recognize familiar companions, and use body language to communicate with one another. Consistent interaction, companionship, and trust can play a huge role in their overall well-being.

There’s so much more to horses than meets the eye, and learning how animals naturally think, communicate, and behave is one of the best ways we can give them the care they deserve.

At Lord of the Leash, we believe every animal deserves the royal treatment. 👑

Being a “cat pro” isn’t about having the fanciest toys or knowing every little thing about feline behavior. A lot of the best cat care comes down to understanding what helps cats feel safe, secure, and in control of their environment. 👑🐾

One simple habit? Leave the carrier out. When a carrier only appears right before a vet appointment, many cats quickly learn that it means something stressful is about to happen. Keeping it accessible as part of their normal environment—with a blanket, familiar scent, or even the occasional treat inside, can help turn it into a comfortable hiding space instead of an instant red flag.

Keeping microchip information and ID tags current is just as important. A microchip can be incredibly helpful if a cat ever gets lost, but only if the contact information connected to it is accurate. Moving, changing phone numbers, or switching emergency contacts are all good reminders to double-check those records.

Another big one: respect their hiding spots. Cats naturally seek out quiet, enclosed places when they want to rest, decompress, or simply observe without being bothered. Unless there’s a safety concern, allowing them to have those spaces can actually help them feel more confident. Sometimes the best way to build trust with a cat is knowing when not to interact with them.

And finally, consistency matters more than people realize. Cats tend to thrive when meals, playtime, medications, litter care, and daily interactions happen on a relatively predictable schedule. Their routine doesn’t have to operate down to the exact minute, but having a familiar rhythm can make their environment feel much more secure.

The little things add up. Paying attention to how cats experience their environment helps us care for them in a way that works with their instincts instead of against them.

Because royal treatment isn’t just about spoiling them; it’s about understanding them. 👑

CONGRATULATIONS KOEING HALBRITTER FAMILY! 🎉
This beautiful little Mini Aussie has come such a long way, and I couldn’t be more proud of her! 💕 Amy’s training journey has included working through reactivity in the home, especially when it comes to her feline family members, and watching her learn how to navigate those challenges has been incredibly rewarding.

Behind all that hard work is the most fun-loving, silly, sweet girl! Amy is such a wonderful fur baby with so much personality, love, and enthusiasm for life. She has worked hard, grown so much, and shown just how much she is capable of when given the right guidance and support.

Amy, you are such a special girl, and I am SO proud of you!

I’m incredibly excited to see what the future holds for this sweet girl and all the wonderful things her family will go on to do with her. I know this is only the beginning of so many amazing adventures!

Congratulations, Amy! You did it!

A huge congratulations to this sweet Golden Retriever puppy on graduating her training program!

From day one, this adorable girl has been eager to learn. One of her biggest accomplishments was making a smooth transition from using puppy p*e pads to confidently going potty outside, a huge milestone for any young pup! 🎉

Beyond potty training, she’s learned the importance of boundaries, developed better impulse control, and made incredible progress in learning how to self-soothe and work through her emotions instead of reacting impulsively. Those are life skills that will continue to benefit her as she grows into adulthood.

Most importantly, training has helped bring structure and consistency to her daily routine, giving her the confidence to make good choices while still letting her loving, playful personality shine. She truly is the sweetest girl, and it’s been amazing to watch her grow into a calmer, more well rounded companion.

We’re so proud of everything she’s accomplished and can’t wait to see all the adventures ahead. Congratulations, sweet girl, you’ve earned it!
