🐾 HELP US WELCOME DR. HOAG! 🐾

We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of the East West Veterinary Care Center family! ❤️

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Hoag, who officially joins our team September 14th! 🎉

Dr. Hoag has a pretty unique background! 🌊 She earned her degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston before attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she completed a Master of Science by Research and her clinical rotations at LSU.

She loves working with ALL species, but has a special passion for exotic and aquatic animals. 🐠🦎🐰 She is a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian (CertAqV) and especially enjoys working with fish, invertebrates, and helping aquarium owners with husbandry and keeping their underwater worlds healthy!

She is also passionate about thorough, individualized, evidence-based preventative care for dogs and cats — and we love that she hopes to bring that same level of care and attention to our exotic patients, too. 🦎🐶🐱💚

Waiting for the doctor has never looked so adorable! 🐱💕

Minxy found her cozy little hideaway and is keeping watch from her kitty condo while she waits for her exam. Cats love having a safe perch where they can observe their surroundings, and we’d say Minxy has found the purr-fect spot! 😻🐾

🪨 From X-ray to “rock collection”… and back to feeling great! 🐶❤️

This sweet pup recently came to see us because something just wasn’t right. After taking X-rays, we discovered the culprit—a bladder full of stones! 😲

A cystotomy is a surgical procedure where we make a small incision into the bladder to safely remove stones that can’t be dissolved with a special diet. Left untreated, bladder stones can cause pain, blood in the urine, frequent accidents, urinary tract infections, and in some cases, a life-threatening urinary blockage.

⚠️ Signs your pet may have bladder stones include:
• Straining to urinate
• Blood in the urine
• Frequent trips outside or asking to go more often
• Urinating only small amounts
• Licking at the urinary area
• Having accidents in the house

The good news? After surgery, this pup is on the road to recovery and feeling so much more comfortable! 💙

Every bladder stone is a little different, so we’ll often send the stones to a laboratory to determine what they’re made of. That helps us create the best long-term plan to reduce the chance of them coming back.

Some patients walk through the door looking like dogs… and some look like they accidentally flew in from a fruit orchard. 🦇🍎

This adorable little “fruit bat” had us doing double takes all day! Those big ears, sweet eyes, and tiny face are almost too cute to handle. Don’t worry though—this one prefers ear scratches and treats over hanging upside down. ❤️🐾

This sweet golden retriever tried the classic ‘hug-the-vet-and-maybe-they’ll-forget’ technique before vaccines today. Safe to say… it almost worked. 💛🐾

Double the wrinkles, double the snorts, double the puppy kisses 🐾💕

These two adorable little Frenchie puppies, Annie & Penelope, came in for their very first vet visit today! From tiny snores to wiggly tails, they were the sweetest little patients. 🩺✨

First puppy visits are all about making happy experiences, getting healthy starts, and giving extra cuddles of course! 🐶💕

🚧 Exciting things are happening behind the scenes! 🐾✨

We are officially remodeling our kennel and boarding facility to create an even better experience for your pets! While construction is underway, we are STILL OPEN for boarding and continuing to care for your furry (and scaly/feathered) family members. ❤️

Our new and improved facility — hopefully ready by the beginning of August 🤞 — will include:

🐶 State-of-the-art boarding areas
🛁 A brand new bathing area with an easy-access ramp and tub
🌱 Fresh new turf play areas
🐱 Upgraded accommodations for dogs, cats, AND exotic pets

We are so excited to give our boarding guests a more comfortable home away from home. Thank you all for your patience and support while we work to make these improvements happen!
