What does a day at Barks & Bones actually look like? 🐾

Plenty of time to play, explore, go for walks, relax and just be a dog. ❤️

We believe daycare and boarding should be more than simply having a place for your dog to stay. Every dog has their own personality, energy level and comfort zone — and we structure their day with that in mind.

Your dog doesn't have to love EVERY dog. ❤️

This is something we wish more dog owners knew.

Dogs have personalities and preferences just like we do.
Some LOVE being in the middle of the action.
Some prefer a few good friends.

Some like to play hard for 20 minutes and then want a break.
And some would much rather hang out with a human.

That's one of the reasons we believe in smaller, carefully matched playgroups at Barks & Bones.

Good daycare isn't about putting as many dogs together as possible.
It's about figuring out what makes each individual dog comfortable and happy. 🐾

We'll start:

Some dogs have perfectly normal hobbies.

And then there are the dogs who…

🐾 refuse to eat unless someone watches them
🐾 bark at ONE very specific object
🐾 have to spin three times before lying down
🐾 carry the same disgusting toy everywhere
🐾 act like they've never been fed in their entire life

Working with dogs every day has taught us one thing:

They're all weird.

And that's exactly why we love them. 😂❤️

One of our favorite things to hear at drop-off?

"He knew where we were going as soon as we turned onto the street." 😂

Then the tail starts.
Then the whining starts.
Then the second the door opens…

BYE MOM. SEE YOU LATER. 🏃‍♂️💨

Those moments mean a lot to us.
Because dogs can't leave Google reviews.

But running through our door excited to see us again is a pretty good one. 🥹

Maybe not.

And that's totally fine.

Daycare isn't only childcare for dogs whose owners are working.

For the right dog, it can also provide:

Some of our dogs come regularly.

Some dogs thrive with 20 friends.
Others are happiest with 3.
Some prefer people over dogs.

And some need a little time before they're comfortable enough to play at all.
That's one reason we keep our groups small at Barks & Bones.

It allows us to actually get to know the dogs in our care and adjust their day accordingly.

Daycare shouldn't be about putting as many dogs together as possible.
