It's time for our annual donation drive and raffle event to support our local animal shelters! This October, we are collecting essential items for the Bulverde Area Humane Society and Canyon Lake Animal Shelter.

Our "Spooky Giving Tree" is now in the lobby, featuring wish list items directly from the shelters. Some of their most needed items include Purina dog and cat food, Milk-Bones, slow feeders, leashes, collars, potty pads, and laundry soap.

As a thank you for your generosity, your donation will enter you into a raffle for a chance to win a $100, $75, or $50 credit on your account!

This event is always a great success, and we deeply appreciate your continued support. Our local shelters are always so thankful and are able to use the donated items through the holidays.

September 2026: Meet Tatum! Tatum is a big ol' happy, sweetie boy! Tatum has a history of seizure activity so his family keeps a close eye on him. A seizure in a dog is a sudden, abnormal burst of electrical activity in the brain that causes temporary involuntary muscle control, shaking, or behavioral changes. We do not always know exactly what can cause a seizure in a patient but some things to consider; Idiopathic Epilepsy: Recurrent seizures with no known cause, usually appearing between 6 months and 6 years of age. Metabolic Issues: Low blood sugar, liver disease, kidney failure, or electrolyte imbalances. Toxins: Ingesting poisons, chocolate, or other toxic items. Structural Problems: Brain tumors, head injuries, or infections/inflammation. Seizure treatment and management depends on the underlying cause and is on a case by case basis. If your pet has a seizure, call your Vet and seek medical care, as needed.

August 2026: Meet Rainbow! Rainbow is one of our sweetest, littlest seniors that we love to see! She comes to see us regularly so that we can help manage her diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder where a dog's body either doesn't produce enough insulin or can't properly use the insulin it produces, which leads to elevated blood sugar levels. Treatment for dogs includes insulin injections, diet change, exercise and regular vet visits to monitor glucose levels. Rainbow's family does a great job at juggling all of these things and keeping her happy and healthy!

July 2026: Meet Stumpy! Sweet Stumpy came to see us with a congenital limb deformity. This can happen sometimes due to genetic mutations, abnormal positioning in the womb, or environmental factors during pregnancy. The limb was not healing and causing discomfort. It was decided that the best course of action was to do an amputation where there was a good start for healing and offer Stumpy the best chance at staying comfortable and active. Stumpy is a feisty, happy kitty and doing well with 3 legs! YAY!

As you prepare for all the fun — please take note of these tips for your pets! ❤️

💥 skip taking your pet to the firework celebration + leave them at home in their quiet, safe place.
💥 make sure collar with tags are on + microchip is registered.
💥 close the curtains to avoid flashes of light.
💥 use sound machines or soft music to drown out sound
💥 offer long lasted enrichment treats that they love
💥 for the extra stressed - use anxiety medications prescribed by your veterinarian.
💥 compression garment - it brings comfort to some pets.
💥 home diffusers that use natural calming pheromones to relax your pet like Adaptil + Feliway
