It is Tattoo Tuesday Eve! (Don't worry - we are not going to turn that into a thing, it just works for this post 😆) There is a full load of alters scheduled tomorrow and the requests keep coming in. If we can possibly help a cat get fixed, TKL will do it. A cat that cannot reproduce is a win not just for the cat but also people, other animals, rescue organizations, shelters - the entire community benefits. Because we have such a high volume of requests and a very clear need in our area, we are going to try a T-shirt fundraising campaign specifically for the Spay It Forward alter assistance program. We are raising funds for The Kitten League's Spay It Forward Alter Assistance program, which helps pet guardians and property owners affordably spay and neuter the cats in their care. Spaying and neutering is the most effective way to tackle the cat overpopulation issue in the community.

This is Kekona which is Hawaiian for second chance. AKA Kiki. She is recuperating from surgery and is doing great. Still needs rest but is super loving and purrs a lot. No fears. Wants attention! 9 months old.
Tigger! Winnie the Pooh said Tiggers are wonderful things and this little guy fits the bill. He is at a playful age (7 weeks) No fears, like his mom, playful and curious.
Skipper is Tiggers brother. A little smaller but makes up for it in energy! Playful but snuggles when worn out.

It is Tattoo Tuesday and you know we can't let it pass without a mini TED talk on altering. This week's talk is kind of heavy but necessary. So last week we mentioned every single alter means a little less suffering in the world. Tonight we have a picture of what that suffering actually looks like. Two completely dependent babies with no mother hanging on to life by the thinnest of threads - literally in the process of starving to death at a few days old. Best estimates put the survival rate for kittens born outside at 25%. That means for every one that survives, three others didn't make it. So when we say an alter means a little less suffering out there, we mean it very literally. A lifespan of a few days, maybe a few weeks or a month, but the ending is the same for 75% of them. Next week we celebrate more kids joining the cool kid club ❤️
