Emily is an adorable 6-month-old rambunctious lab puppy! She was spayed and presented to us 5 days later because her incision came apart. Part of Emily's internal abdominal tissue was herniating out of her incision. Dr. Leshem brought Emily to surgery to repair her incision. Emily did great after surgery and was back to her normal self when she came in for her recheck last week!

Wilbur came to VEC and saw Dr. Lavoie after he had no interest in food and was vomiting. We did x-rays, which showed concern for a foreign body obstruction. He was hospitalized, and Dr. Leshem performed surgery removing a piece of corn cob from his intestines. He recovered great after surgery and was back to normal at his recheck!

Leah came to VEC because she was extremely lethargic and refused to eat. On presentation her temperature was 105.6! She was diagnosed with a uterine infection, called pyometra. Leah's case was more complex because the infection spread into her abdomen, causing septic peritonitis. She was admitted to the hospital and had surgery with Dr. Acquaviva. Once Leah was feeling more like herself and was eating well, she was able to go home. She came back for her recheck a few weeks later and was doing wonderful!

Madame came to see us after she got into her owner’s prescription medication. Poison Control recommended that she be hospitalized with us for the day so we could monitor her blood pressure, ECG, and her electrolytes. All her values remained normal, so she was able to go home that night.

Mateo is one handsome Great Pyrenees puppy! His owner suspected he ingested a rubber stopper and some duct tape. Dr. Lavoie induced vomiting and he brought up most of his lunch, but did not bring up any foreign material. When animals vomit they do not bring up 100% of their stomach contents. Mateo was sent home with instructions to monitor for any vomiting, inappetence or lethargy. Even though Mateo was a great patient, we hope we don’t have to see him again!
