First, we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has applied for Gus! ❤️ We are so excited to see how much interest this handsome boy has received!

Since Gus arrived at our shelter, we’ve had the opportunity to learn more about his personality and what he needs to thrive in a forever home. We want to make sure we set him up for success, so we have a few updates about the type of home we feel would be the best fit for him.

🏡 Gus would do best in a home:
🐱 Without cats
👶 Without young children
🐕 As the only dog OR with playful dogs who can match his energy
🐾 Without senior dogs, as his youthful, energetic personality may be too much for them
🏃‍♂️ With a family committed to providing daily exercise and mental stimulation

Gus is a youthful, energetic, and incredibly smart boy! He already knows how to sit, shake, and respond to his name. He has so much potential and is ready to find a family who will keep his mind busy, help him burn off that energy, and give him all the love he deserves! ❤️

To those who have already applied but may not meet these updated criteria, we sincerely apologize. We know applying for a dog comes with excitement and hope, and we truly appreciate your interest in Gus. These decisions are never easy, but our priority is finding the right match to give him the best chance at a successful, lifelong adoption.

❤️VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!❤️

The Humane Society of Fulton County is looking for more volunteers to join our team! 🐶🐱 As a volunteer-run shelter, we rely on the kindness and dedication of our community to help care for the animals who need us.

We are especially in need of help during adoption hours and with office work! Whether you love working hands-on with animals or would rather help behind the scenes, there are so many ways to make a difference. Every helping hand matters, and even a little of your time can mean the world to the animals waiting for their forever homes. ❤️

WHERE WE NEED HELP THE MOST: OFFICE WORK & ADOPTION HOURS!

The truth is, this is the department where we are struggling the most right now. Our coordinators and volunteers are working tirelessly every day to care for the animals, keep up with their needs, and make sure they receive the love and attention they deserve. Because so much of our time goes toward caring for the animals, we have limited help available to keep our office open efficiently.

We need YOU to help us change that!❤️

We are looking for volunteers willing to help keep our adoption hours running smoothly! Even dedicating one day a week can make a huge difference in helping us keep our doors open for potential adopters, assisting with office work, and making sure our animals receive the care they need at the end of the day.

All volunteers interested in helping with adoption hours must train alongside an experienced adoption-hour volunteer to learn the process and responsibilities before taking on a shift. We want to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident in their role!

Our current adoption hours are:

📅 Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 5–8 PM
📅 Wednesday & Friday: 1–4 PM

The truth is, we would LOVE to be open on Saturdays again! We know weekends can be easier for many families looking to adopt, but unfortunately, we simply don’t have enough volunteers right now to make that happen. With more helping hands, we can work toward opening our doors on Saturdays again and giving more animals the opportunity to find their forever homes.

🐾 HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?

Our volunteer orientation is held on the 4th Saturday of every month at 11 AM. Attending orientation is required for anyone who wants to become a volunteer!

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, now is the perfect time. You don’t have to do everything to make a difference. Sometimes, simply showing up and giving a little of your time can make all the difference in the world.

Our animals depend on us, and we depend on our community. We would love to have you join our HSFC family! Come be a voice for the voiceless! Please share this post and help us spread the word! You never know who might be looking for a way to give back. ❤️

🔎 Dice and Eve inspected the conference room, the outside perimeter, looked out the doors and windows searching to see if their family was coming! These two have been waiting almost 100 DAYS, 97 to be exact, for someone to choose them. Dice and Eve were surrendered at no fault of their own, a housing issue, that landed them and a few of their siblings at HSFC. They hope that a family finds them soon because they are more than ready! After exploring, these two wanted all the affection and to play with some toys!

🔎 They have been spay/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV tested (negative) and are litter box trained. Plus, they have waived adoption fees. Adopt Dice and Eve, you won’t regret it!

🎳🐾 Athena Has a Special Reminder! 🐾🎳

Hi everyone! It’s me, Athena! ❤️ I wanted to remind you all about our Bowling Fundraiser on October 24th at 6 PM! 🎳

There will be raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing, and a chance to win a LOTTO BOARD! 🎟️🎁 Grab your friends, gather your family, and come out for a fun night supporting your local animal shelter!

But before I go, I have one more little thing to ask. 🥺💔

I’m still waiting for my forever home. I’m the shelter’s LONGEST RESIDENT, and what I want more than anything is a family to call my own. Until that day comes, I’m hoping someone will open their heart and home to foster me. 🐾❤️

Every ticket, every donation, and every person who shows up helps dogs like me get one step closer to the happy endings we dream about.
