Puppy Training Tip starring Cookie and Bossš¶š¶šŖ
Raising a new puppy with your older dog.
*Remember: You bought yourself a puppy, you didn't get your dog a puppy.
It is your responsibility to manage, train, and set boundaries for the puppy, not your older dog's.
Their energy levels are likely very different. So, when they are interacting and playing you want to look for reciprocation. Try to separate them before the older dog feels like it wants to escape the puppy or communicate that it's had enough.
You want your older dog to understand that you will step in to manage this puppy. It doesn't have to, and it's not allowed to. You want your puppy to learn where is boundaries are. If you are the one taking on this responsibility with both the puppy and the dog, they will both see you as the one in charge that not only sets limitations but also looks out for them.
Taking this to heart will accelerate your dog's relationship and the harmony in your household!
