I have had a YouTube channel for quite some time but literally haven’t done anything with it except some unpublished videos that we send to clients when we are training their dog. I have renamed it to Eric Stanbro | VanEss K9 I am going to start putting content on there soon. 2-3 minute videos and some shorts. Videos from my seminars as well as k9 and pet training snippets. Maybe even a video here and there of me getting murked at jiu jitsu. Please go subscribe and standby.

Back in 2017 our local FOP built a permanent K9 memorial for those dogs killed in the line of duty. I was asked to give a speech. I actually made this speech up on the way there to simply troll a couple of dept supervisors šŸ˜‚ Fast Fwd to yesterday and Lee County Fl held a funeral for K9 Dundee who lost his life in service. The LT had been so taken by my words that he used them in his own speech. To say I am humbled is putting it mildly. Here is my speech from that day in 2017

Recently at my e collar seminars I have been doing a scenario where the dog chases a decoy into a room then an ā€œinnocentā€ person posts up against the door and the handler has to verbally out his dog and call him past the innocent. Well this dog had been so perfectly clean on all his stuff that I told the innocent to occupy the whole doorway. Here’s the result

Working some Power of Twos with Theo here. He has some conflict in the out. So I am giving him a 2nd thing to do and that’s what gets paid. So correct 1 and pay 2. Then the out becomes a means to get to the down or the recall. Not every dog needs this but it’s a nice way to clean up a dog who has conflict with the out. I also use it for reactive dogs. Correct the reaction, get them to look at you, pay the look. Correct 1 pay 2. I talk about it in my book. Figured I would show it

Sitting on a plane to Omaha to teach for a few days and going through my phone. Found this one I haven’t posted in awhile. We used to have a lot of fun once a year at water training. It took 3 summers to get the timing right on this one. Bas was the perfect dog for this catch. Before some idiot comes on and says ā€œI would never send my dog on a person water skiingā€ I want to remind you that some scenarios are just for fun or environmental confidence. Please be less stupid.

A little simple exercise from today. This was not only about the out and recall but it was about long line usage with the handler. Not repeating commands and getting a calm out. So many handlers are so bad at long line work that they simply avoid it. Take some time and use long lines even when you don’t have to. If you can rock a 30’ line you’ll be a maestro wit a 10’. ā€œIf you can dodge a wrench you can dog a ballā€

Last morning in Aruba. Another great trip. I have been coming here for 23 years (Laurie has since 1998) and it never disappoints. This place is always consistently amazing. Safe safe safe. I have driven in every neighborhood on this island and haven’t ever been nervous. Those of you who like the Caribbean and are sick of Jamaica and the Bahamas (and even Mexico) give Aruba a try. Nobody bothers you on the beach. Nobody tries to sell you drugs. Nobody hounding you at the airport when you arrive. The water can be drank right from the tap. It’s always hot and always sunny.
