National Veterinary Technician Week

We take you back to 1993, the year National Veterinary Technician Week was first celebrated. During this week, we honor the commitment of veterinary technicians who provide compassionate and high-quality care for all animals. We want to highlight the skill and dedication that these technicians demonstrate, as their role is crucial in ensuring that animals receive the best possible care. Just as nurses do in the human healthcare field, veterinary technicians serve as the nurses for animals. This week, take a moment to show your appreciation for the veterinary technicians in your practice, who work tirelessly to keep your companions happy, healthy, and most importantly, loved.

National Fetch Day

This annual holiday encourages pet owners to bond with their dogs by playing the classic game of fetch. Although this enjoyable activity can sometimes turn into a game of "catch me if you can" for most dogs, it promotes their physical and mental well-being through exercise and further strengthens the amazing bond between humans and animals.
Gather all the balls or your dog’s favorite toys, and get ready to throw them for your special pooch!

Pet Obesity Awareness Month

We all love to give our furry companions plenty of treats, but animal obesity is a significant problem, just as it is for humans. October serves as a reminder that we can show our pets love in healthier ways than simply giving them treats. Excess weight can lead to various health concerns, including diabetes, heart disease, and joint issues.
Promoting a healthy lifestyle for our pets is essential, and tracking their weight is always encouraged. We recommend taking your pets to the local vet for a quick and simple weigh-in, which can also help make the vet experience less stressful for them.
If your pet is gaining weight unexpectedly and is not eating enough to contribute to that gain, it may be wise to consult your veterinarian for further testing. By addressing these important issues, we can help ensure that both people and their pets live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

World Animal Day

Today, we highlight the importance of animals and the need to raise awareness for their welfare. It is essential to educate ourselves about the world's most dangerous species while also emphasizing the importance of protecting and rescuing these animals.
Although veterinary practices primarily focus on domestic animals, we must also consider their environment, as it may pose certain dangers. Wildlife can spread viruses that affect domestic pets, and some wild animals can be harmful to our beloved companions. Therefore, it’s crucial to be informed about these risks to ensure their safety.
Moreover, we must recognize the vital role wildlife plays in maintaining ecological balance. This includes processes such as nutrient cycling, decomposition, and the nitrogen cycle, all of which are critical for environmental protection. We should remember that the world is also their home.
