🐾 As Veterinary Technician Week comes to a close, we want to highlight something that makes Compassionate Groom and Spa a little different! ❤️

As the owner and a Certified Veterinary Technician, alongside our wonderful groomer, Miss Kat, who is also a Veterinary Assistant, we bring more than just grooming skills to the table! Our backgrounds in veterinary medicine provide us with a deeper understanding of animal health, behavior, body language, and compassionate handling. This knowledge helps us recognize signs of stress or discomfort, better understand behavioral challenges, and create a safer, more comfortable Fear Free grooming experience.

But what makes this even more special is that our knowledge doesn’t stop with us! We have the opportunity to collaborate, educate, and share our experience with every groomer on our team, allowing everyone to benefit from a veterinary-informed approach, regardless of their individual background or credentials.

Through teamwork and continued learning, we strive to ensure that every pet who walks through our doors receives the same thoughtful, knowledgeable, and compassionate care.

Because grooming is about so much more than looking beautiful — it’s about understanding the animal on the other end of the leash! 🐶🐱💕

🐾 Breed Spotlight: Black German Shepherd! 🖤

With their stunning all-black coats and unmistakable shepherd ears, these beauties are real head-turners! 😍 Did you know that black German Shepherds aren’t a separate breed? Their gorgeous solid-black coloring comes from a recessive gene! Just like their traditional black-and-tan counterparts, they’re known for their intelligence, loyalty, confidence, and protective instincts. Their thick double coats also benefit from regular professional grooming to help manage shedding and keep their skin and coats healthy!

🐾 Airedale Terrier Spotlight! 🐾

Meet handsome Sonny! 😍 Known as the “King of Terriers,” the Airedale is the largest of the terrier breeds! These intelligent, confident, and spirited dogs are known for their playful personalities, distinctive beards, and beautiful wiry coats. Their unique coats require specialized grooming to keep them looking their best!

We’ve had the pleasure of grooming a few Airedales over the years, and Sonny is certainly a handsome addition to the bunch! ❤️

✨ Breed Spotlight: The Sealyham Terrier! ✨

We were SO excited to welcome our very first Sealyham Terrier to the salon! 🐾

This charming little Welsh terrier is a rare breed known for its sturdy build, big personality, and that unmistakable bearded expression. Sealyhams were originally bred as working terriers, but today they’re treasured for being affectionate, confident, clever companions with plenty of character. Their beautiful weather-resistant coat and traditional terrier grooming make them especially fun for us to work with.

We absolutely loved having this special pup in the salon and hope this is the first of many Sealyhams—and other rare breeds—we get the privilege of grooming! ❤️

Even if your pup doesn’t need a full haircut getting regular baths and nails is important for healthy skin and coat, especially those with allergies. 🍁

We had our Scottish fold trio come in on Cat Monday. 🐱 did you know they can also be known as Scottish Straights (like Bitsy) and can have normal ears? This breed is extremely docile but they shed like huskies!
