Froh's Taxidermy - I'd Mount That

Froh's Taxidermy - I'd Mount That Taxidermy Services After retiring from 23 years in the military, I’ve decided to pursue my lifelong dream in taxidermy.

I am a licensed business in the state of Wisconsin. I graduated in the summer of 2012 in the Deer Head Course, from Dan Rinehart’s Taxidermy School. During the spring of 2013, I plan on participating in bird, medium mammal, and fish taxidermy classes. My goal is quality taxidermy with a fast turnaround time. I am able to tan a hide in approximately 3 hours without the hide shrinking. By using new

technology, I purchased a pressure tanner at school. This takes a significantly shorter time compared to the traditional method of salting, pickling, and rubbing a cream on them which could take up to a week to complete. The hides also look like a hide returned from a professional tannery. I would like to be a family oriented business, which includes special pricing on youth’s (16 and under) deer. Please contact me for further information and pricing, or feel free to stop out at my studio to look at my work.

I have heard some rumors that Froh’s Taxidermy has gone out of business. THIS IS NOT TRUE! With that being said good luck to all the hunters this weekend! As in the past I will take European mounts from any customer. I am limiting the number of shoulder mounts similar to last year due to the large number of archery deer. Please call me to schedule an appointment for drop off. I will be hunting this weekend, but will be in the shop on Monday by appointment. Make sure you leave a message if you call and I don’t answer. 608-547-1279

Good luck to all hunters this season please read for new changes and prices for 2022 season.

Attention Deer Hunters:
I don’t post on here but this is too important to me to not share my opinion on. This post is not intended to bad mouth the Department of Natural Resources but it is for informational awareness. I was made aware of this issue early this week and have had several complaints since that time. Since receiving this letter I have reached out to four state wildlife biologists, two of which have been great to talk to and two who I have left messages for and have not received any response back from at this time. As a taxidermist, I have been a CWD cooperator for the last 6 years or so and have submitted over 300 samples in the last two seasons. I have many friends that work for the DNR and have helped train wardens in conducting taxidermy audits. At this point in time I will not be conducting CWD sampling until this issue is resolved. My whole goal of this is to stop the special season that is taking place and to have it removed from the CWD response plan. As it is written now the surveillance permits are September 1-April 30. I would like it to only be valid during the regular season structure that is already in place and be weapon specific to that season. I have no problem with giving out free tags if need be, as long as every deer shot on that tag is required to be CWD sampled. I do have a huge problem with shooting deer that just survived the winter and are yarded up, especially when does are getting ready to drop fawns in which some of them would have already had there fawns. Also, this hunt is taking place at the same time as our Wisconsin turkey season, which to me indicates some danger and possible safety issues with deer hunters on the landscape at the same time as turkey hunters. Like I said this post is not attended to slam or bad mouth the DNR, it is to make people aware of what is happening. This hunt is also taking place in Eau Claire County. In addition, in Minnesota there are sharpshooters shooting deer right now to check for CWD. This program here is totally voluntary to landowners in the affected area and is not about bringing in DNR sharpshooters. I feel there needs to be more transparency in this process as I have heard from several landowners that had no idea this was going on until they received this letter in the mail. We as hunters have to get more involved and have our voices heard, the state biologists are here working for us. We need to reach out to them and have our questions answered. One person can not make much of a difference but all hunters have a huge voice. Ask the tough questions even if you are uncomfortable doing so. Complaining on here does nothing and I will not respond to negative comments. I will help people get in touch with the right person if they need help. As you can tell this is very disturbing to me and I am very passionate about this. Please feel free to share and we as hunters should not allow this to happen.

Good Afternoon Fellow Hunters;

I just wanted to take a minute to post a few changes for this coming hunting season due to my current workload. Last season I took in a lot more work than I ever have in the past, and I am still currently working on last season’s deer. Because of this, I will not be accepting any new customers for shoulder mounts and I will only be accept a small number of shoulder mounts this upcoming season. The fact that I am still trying to complete last seasons work I will not be accepting whole deer this season. I will gladly give instructions on how to cape a deer if needed, but I will not have the time to do it for you like I did in the past. In addition, due to supply price increases I will not be offering a multiple deer discount or a youth hunter discount. My prices are going to stay the same as last Gun season for now. I will still be accepting European mounts and will still offer CWD testing. I strongly encourage people to make appointments this year. Please when you call, leave a voicemail or send me a text message, I receive a lot of calls during the season and will not return a call without a message. I do not regularly check Facebook messages so using my cellphone is the best option (608)547-1279.
Thank you for your understanding and your business.

Good luck to all the hunters tomorrow! If you are bringing a deer to Froh’s Taxidermy a shoulder mount will be $500 and a euro mount is $80 (sales tax included in pricing). We are encouraging hunters to call for an appointment. If you are sick or have been around someone that has been tested for COVID please wear a mask. I am taking my girls hunting this weekend! I will be in the shop Sunday afternoon and Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 to 6:00 or by appointment for later times. CWD testing will also be available.

I would like to Thank all of my customers and friends for referrals for making the 2017 season my best season thus far. This year will be a very busy year for me starting off the year with turkeys and mammals that I have not gotten to in awhile, with that being said I will not be taking in birds or small mammals in this coming year due to the number of deer, bear, elk, and antelope that I received. I do not want my turn around time to exceed one year and this will not be possible if I don't make some changes on what I will take in. Thank you for all the support I have received over the past four years and I will continue striving to be the best I can be by going to competitions and seminars in the coming years to gain more knowledge and to learn from the best taxidermists in the world. Thank You again,
Mike Froh
