I’m always amazed at how fast these little rays of light grow and am enjoying all of their little squeaks and wiggles. They sure are a lively bunch and mama is loving every minute.

‘Merica and the puppies are doing well this morning. Weights are already starting to turn around. They change so much every day. Puppy cam is live streaming. Thankful for summer and the ability to have someone with them 24/7.

💫 Summer Sky Litter
With such a traumatic birth, I asked the vet to check everyone over including mama. She said everyone looks and sounds great so that’s a relief. They’re all eating well and seem to be in good shape.

Breeding is a very tough thing when days like today happen. No amount of planning could have prepared me for this morning. ‘Merica went into labor while I was at work.
I checked in on her around 8:30 on the cocker cam and saw she already had whelped 2 puppies. I rushed to get home to help. I couldn’t tell any details other than one didn’t look like it was moving. This was after showing zero signs of labor when I left for work. When I got home there was one puppy who had passed. I gave CPR, I did everything to get him to warm up and nothing. Then 3 more born sleeping. Heartache and devastation with each delivery. This post is to show love for those precious babies. The vet said that likely the first one was stuck and she tried so hard that the placentas detached on the others. I will nest pictures in the comments. Nothing gruesome, just perfectly formed little angles. My heart is broken 💔
4 males (born sleeping)

Ever wonder the difference between male and female cockers? I think this could go for people too 😜

It’s raining here in WI so I thought I would start prepping! Here are a few things I’ve found to be essential for whelping a litter and making sure mama is getting enough fats and nutrients to feed her growing babies. 🐶 🐾

Huk and I had a good walk tonight. Much different than last night’s walk on the cranberry marsh. He got a little too close to the bee boxes and had us both running from the swarms.
