When it comes to dogs, we see a little bit of EVERYTHING! Big dogs, small dogs, loud dogs, quiet dogs, young dogs, old dogs, fast dogs, and slow dogs. 🐶❤️

But as long as everyone is getting along, we let them find their happy! The best part about having this many dogs together day in and day out is watching them find their people (well, dog friends 😉) who match their sp*ed and play style. Some are all about chasing and wrestling, some prefer a little back-and-forth, and others would rather wander around and catch up on all the latest neighborhood sniffs! 👃🐾

Over time, we've noticed FOUR main types of dogs here at The Dog Resort, and we've got some fun photos of our very own daycare crew to show you exactly what we mean!

👇 Keep scrolling to meet our four types of dogs! Which category does YOUR dog fall into? 👀🐕

• Gentle / Dainty: Polite and low-key. These dogs prefer quiet sniffing, brief greetings, and minimal physical contact—think of it as a polite little tea party.

• Chasers / Push & Pull: Fast-moving and dynamic. These pups love games of tag, racing around the yard, and taking turns chasing each other. Herding breeds often fit into this category.

• Wrestlers / Body Slammers: Physical and high-contact. These dogs enjoy full-body wrestling, pinning, bumping, and bouncing off their playmates. Sporting and working breeds frequently enjoy this style of play.

• Vocalizers: Expressive and LOUD! These dogs use excited barks, playful growls, squeaks, and other noises to add their own soundtrack to chasing, wrestling, and general chaos.

We are often asked, “What does a day at The Dog Resort actually look like?!?” 🐾

Our daycare day is intentionally divided into two parts because we believe more play doesn’t always mean better daycare!

🌅 7–10 AM — Morning Drop-Off
This is our main drop-off window. We severely limit drop-offs and pick-ups outside of these hours because every time someone arrives or leaves, the entire room knows about it 😂 And when one dog gets excited, suddenly everyone gets excited!

Keeping traffic limited helps us keep the environment calm and controlled.

😴 11 AM–1 PM — Mandatory Nap Time
Yep. Every dog takes a break.

Lights go off, dogs are fed if needed, and everyone gets some serious downtime in their own individual kennel with a comfy bed.

And no, this isn't because we're trying to ruin their fun. This forced downtime is incredibly important.

A common misconception is that a great daycare means letting dogs play nonstop for 8–10 hours. In reality, continuous group play can lead to overstimulation, stress, crankiness, and rougher play.

Think of it like an overtired toddler. Sometimes they don't know they're tired…they just become progressively crazier. 😂

Scheduled rest helps dogs:
🐾 Prevent overstimulation
🐾 Learn to self-regulate
🐾 Decompress from the noise and excitement
🐾 Get the rest their bodies actually need

Many dogs, especially puppies and adolescents, aren't great at recognizing when they've had enough. They'll keep playing simply because the opportunity is there!

🌤️ 1–3 PM — Back to Play!
Once everyone has had a good two-hour reset, the doors open back up and everyone gets at least another two hours of playtime before afternoon pickup begins.

🐶 3–5 PM — Afternoon Pick-Up

We know your dog is here to have fun, make friends, and burn some energy — and they absolutely do!

But we also believe that good daycare isn't about exhausting a dog at all costs. It's about providing a safe, structured environment where they can play, socialize AND rest.

Sometimes the best thing we can do for a room full of crazy, happy dogs is turn off the lights and tell them, “Alright guys, everybody go to bed.” 😂❤️

An emergency bath was definitely NOT on her bingo card today. 🛁

Sometimes enrichment looks like some dog kibble in a ball pit 🤷‍♀️

09/21/2026

We are a “larger” boarding facility, and with 20 standard kennels and 3 suites, we have the capacity for anywhere from 20–50 dogs boarding with us at any given time.

Add 10–15 daycare dogs a day to that mix and we are officially in the “there’s like…a LOT of dogs in here” phase of life. 😂

And you know what? We thrive in the chaos.

Believe it or not, I can name basically every dog that walks through our door. Chances are I’ll remember your face, but I’ll definitely remember your dog’s name. 😂 (I’m working on remembering human names, but honestly… I’m terrible at it!)

We work hard to make every dog in our care feel right at home. We learn what makes them happy, what makes them nervous, their cues that they’re scared or lonely, and when they’ve simply had enough play for the day.

We don’t just group dogs based on size. We consider temperament, personality, and activity level too.

We learn the little things that make each dog unique:
🐾 Who loves the water
🎾 Who will chase a ball all day
💤 Who would rather nap
🐕 Who wants to run until they physically can’t run anymore
😂 And who really just wants to walk around and p*e on absolutely everything

We take the barkers.
We take the crazy runners.
We take the dogs who don’t really love other dogs.

We create different environments so that every dog has a chance to thrive, and their owners can worry a little less while they’re away.

Right now, our core staff is two people, plus an “extra half” who helps cover a few weekends here and there so I can occasionally get a day off. (I can count on one hand how many days off I’ve had this year. 😂)

For the most part, you’ll see my smiling face in the mornings checking dogs in for boarding.

The other face you’ll see is Stacy, my sister-in-law, who genuinely loves dogs more than anyone else you will ever meet. ❤️ She runs our daycare and helps with afternoon boarding checkouts.

And now, we’re looking for one more person to join our team and help cover weekends.

This isn’t just a “clean some kennels and go home” job. There’s a LOT that goes into caring for this many dogs, and it takes the right person for me to trust you with that responsibility.

At the heart of it, you have to love dogs—and everything that comes with them.

The barking.
The cleaning.
The feeding.
The medications.
The messes.
The personalities.
The chaos.
And, of course, the ridiculous amount of love and tail wags that come with the job. ❤️

If you’re someone who genuinely loves dogs, is dependable, responsible, willing to work hard, and would love spending your weekends surrounded by four-legged friends, we’d love to hear from you.

The right person could become a very important part of our little (okay…not so little 😂) dog family.
