If anyone read my “track to a gut pile” from yesterday, it all turned out great!
The hunter who found the deer noticed it dead near his hunting spot yesterday afternoon. He reached out to conservation and obtained permission to remove it while he searched for the rightful owner.
The hunter contacted all neighbors and stopped other out of state hunters to see if they had shot the deer.
When he hadn’t heard anything by yesterday afternoon he started quartering the deer up as to salvage the meat.
The hunting party that shot the deer contacted their local agent yesterday evening to see if he had any leads. He was able to get them in contact with the hunter who removed the deer off of the property, who gladly offered them the meat and head back.
Since the hunter had already put in a lot of work quartering and processing, the out of state hunters let him keep the meat.
The shooter tagged the buck and is now after a doe to take home.
Love when stories like this have a happy ending. Congrats to the out of state hunter on your first trip to Missouri!
