It is (the day after) 😮💨 and we like to share this every year to remind people that cats can and do suffer from asthma just like humans. Olive used to have episodes of coughing due to her asthma brought on by seasonal allergens but this was one of her very last attacks almost 6 years ago. When this first started happening we thought she was trying to get out a very stubborn hairball. It happened a few times a week and slowly escalated to daily and even more than once a day.
It is important to note that coughing can be caused by other things besides asthma and it would require a vet’s diagnosis to know for sure which usually involves an exam🩺 and chest X-ray 🩻 to confirm. Coughing can also happen for spontaneously for no real reason, once in a great while, but if it becomes frequent especially increasingly frequent or for longer periods it is good to get it checked out. Then you can both breathe a bit easier! 😯😮💨💨
