Fish Of The Day

Majestic Angel (saltwater)

The majestic angelfish (Pomacanthus navarchus), also known as the blue-girdled angelfish, is a brilliantly colored marine fish native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region.

Appearance and Coloration
Stunning Colors: Adults feature a deep midnight blue body wrapped with a curved, glowing band of electric blue and a bright yellow tail and midsection.

Dramatic Change: Young fish look completely different with a dark blue or black body and thin neon blue vertical stripes.
Size: They grow up to 10 to 11 inches long in total.
Natural Habitat and Behavior
Deep Waters: Mature fish live near outer reef walls, lagoons, and reef slopes down to 120 feet deep.
Diet in Nature: They feed mostly on marine sponges and tunicates.
Shy Nature: These fish are often shy and prefer to spend their time near hiding spots and rockwork.

Coral Serpae Tetra

The coral serpae tetra (often called the red minor or jewel tetra) is a vibrant, hardy freshwater fish known for its deep red-orange body and striking black-and-white dorsal fin.

Scientific name: Hyphessobrycon eques (or Hyphessobrycon callistus)
Size: 1.5 inches (4 cm)
Lifespan: 5 to 7 years
Care level: Easy, great for beginners
Tank Requirements
Minimum tank size: 20 gallons for a small group; 29 gallons or larger is ideal.
Water temperature: 72°F – 79°F (22°C – 26°C)pH level: 5.0 – 7.8 (best kept at 6.0 – 7.0)Water hardness: 5 – 25 dGH
Decor: Live plants, driftwood, and dark substrate mimic their natural Amazonian environment.
Schooling: Keep them in groups of at least 6, though 10 to 15+ is much better to curb natural nipping.
Fin nipping: They can be nippy toward slow-moving or long-finned fish like bettas or angelfish.
Good tank mates: Fast swimmers like danios, corydoras, plecos, and other similarly sized tetras.
Diet
