So what’s Tara up to now?? Good question, lol. So, a septic field is going in where the old chicken coop was (chickens were moved this Spring to the big shed as part of another project). The shed has to move. This became the perfect opportunity to create a prototype of a boarding cabin for Resort guests in the future! I know, what a crazy idea, right?! My son is pouring a pad for it to sit on. He already insulated it when I first got it so we’ll be figuring out what needs to be done after it moves. My geriatric sanctuary Pyrs will be moving out there with the same amenities they have now (heat, AC, smoke detector directly wired the security company, and full-time yard access, etc) as well as cameras for monitoring. This will allow us to make changes as necessary as well as decide if this is an option for the Resort in the future.

Wouldn’t this be an exciting option for your pet’s vacation while you’re away?

Finally getting a little cooler so our guests can spend more time outdoors! Allison tends to take the daytime enrichment sessions which gives me the evening and bedtime treats, tuck-ins and cuddles.

It’s the best feeling when a client comes to pick up our guest and asks if he’s the only one back there because not a sound is heard until I go back to get him. We are currently full, lol! We must be doing something right❤️

I know that it bothers clients sometimes that I just have specific pick up and drop off times but this is why. This morning, between 7-8am, two guests left and four came in. This video was taken at 9:30. I run it for a minute, not necessarily so you can see my goats or the awesome job my son, Alex, did power washing my deck. So you could hear that it was peaceful and quiet. Is it that way when guests are coming and going? No, not usually. So, if I had guests coming and going at all hours, it would be more stressful on our guests, agreed? That is why we do it the way we do❤️

I had someone ask the other day if we give our guests fans. Well, we do a little better than that! When I tell clients that it’s really well insulated and it’s cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than the main part of the home, I’m not lying, lol.

It’s 2:30pm on a holiday weekend. I’m standing outside watching my goats before I do chores. Turn the volume up. You hear the birds chirping and the AC in my grooming room running. You know what you don’t hear? Twenty-one dogs. We are at capacity for the weekend. Everything that we do for our guests is based around minimizing stress. So you don’t hear much barking (primarily during feeding, let outs and our short check-in and out times). We strive for a peaceful environment during your best friend’s stay.

A lot of my clients already know from my personal page that my Dad passed away Saturday night, after complications from emergency surgery in Iowa City last Sunday after a massive brain bleed.

I want to take this time to thank my team, Jenn and Allison, as well as my kids for stepping up in my absence so that I could be with my Dad. I never worried for a moment that everything would be handled any different than if I were there. They have truly been amazing and I love them all.

I will be back at full capacity tomorrow. In the uncertainty of my Dad’s condition, we did shut down further appointments for this week. I have since opened that back up, so if you’d like to reschedule your appointment to get in sooner, that option is available.

It’s 11pm and my puppies, Straz and Virgil, just got tucked in for the night (they’re both chewers so they don’t get nice soft blankets yet, lol). These boys are always the last ones to go out for the night. This means that, if your best friend is staying with us, they just went out and were tucked in as well.

Bedtime isn’t just going out late at night for the last time. It’s truly my favorite part of the day, a ritual of treats (if their parents packed them), hugs and cuddles that I love doing before we all go to bed ❤️
