How did you celebrate National Dog Day? Our Paws and Progress training walk group celebrated by helping these pet parents work towards reaching their personal training goals!

We loved watching everyone make their own progress based on their dog’s needs and understanding each others’ limitations. Progress can’t be made by racing to the finish line! For change to happen, owners must take it slow and be able to adapt to their dogs needs and change the course when necessary in order to find success.

We can’t wait for the next Paws and Progress walk in September! Stay tuned as we will share when new dates come up.

If you haven’t heard, today is our Paws and Progress group training walk! 🐾

For those of you just joining us, every month we offer inexpensive training opportunities through our training walk program. Our Paws and Progress program offers owners who are working on individual goals the chance to practice their skills under trainer supervision, and able to ask our trainers for guidance if they are struggling through specific goals. We’re able to keep everyone safe and pick different locations to meet in order to provide some simple challenges so you and your dog can continue building confidence and trust in your relationship.

Today we will be meeting at 6:30p and have 2 spots that just opened up! You can follow our link here: https://m.signupgenius.com/ #!/showSignUp/70A0A45ACAF28A7FD0-64356357-paws?useFullSite=false

Hey guys!! Guess what? We’re getting ready to run our next round of group classes!

The first one being our AKC Canine Good Citizen class where you and your dogs can learn to maximize your partnership through building new training skills and work on developing positive habits.

If interested in our Capable Canine Class, don’t hesitate to reach out! We will be staring this class Saturday 8/15 and only taking on 4 teams.

We purposely keep our class small to better support you and your pup and gives us the ability to modify our training strategies to better fit your pups needs.

It’s going to be a hot few days, and not so great air quality. This means getting our playtime outdoors much earlier in the day before the temp and air turn unpleasant.

Our fluff group (our most fluffiest guests) are a bunch of crazy littles who love the rough and tumble play style. Good thing they all have a variety of coats, or else we’d never know where one starts and the other ends. 🩷

Remember to keep your pup safe in these warmer temps and avoid heavy exercise outdoors when the air quality is bad.

We hope everyone is having a safe 4th of July as we work through keeping everyone calm and comfortable through the evening and night of fireworks. Usually our little area doesn’t get much, just distance fireworks where we can easily mute the sounds inside the house. No dog the wiser!

But this year has proven significantly different, and thankfully we anticipated that this year would maybe more intense.

Our 4th of July routine has always been keeping the dogs busy during the day with lots of intense exercise before turning in for an early night. Then usually around 2am we slowly venture back out for last potty breaks before turning in for our real bedtime.

While some of our dogs don’t mind the fireworks, we still play it safe and make sure they aren’t unsupervised and use the most secure yard we have for the dogs.

As a reminder to all our friends, make sure your gates are secure before letting them outside and no off leash potty breaks for the more nervous dog who spooks easy. Today and tomorrow aren’t the days to take a gamble on safety.

Our pre-4th of July festivities work out is complete! ✔️

Joey and Winnie got to work their mental energy through practicing their obedience skills, manners with passing other dogs and people, and controlling their excitement on leash at seeing squirrels run a muck at the park.

The biggest success here though was Joey! Him and his owners have come very far from when they first started their training journey after adopting him. Prior to his owners determination at helping him be his best version, it was nerve-wracking taking him out on walks because he was so reactive on leash. And got pretty extreme in some situations!

Fast forward to now after training with us, Joey now attends doggy daycare, has a much easier time on walks, and his owners are always discovering new successes. For example, they didn’t think Joey would be able to handle walking through the center of the farmers market once foot traffic started picking up, but he did so well! And even with a dog by his side, something his owners haven’t felt too confident doing. But we’re here to help give them that confidence.

Joey still has quirks in his behavior that are constantly being managed and worked on, like his development of stranger danger in the last few years, but that shouldn’t take away from how much gains Team Joey has accomplished. 🩷

With every training walk, we hope to teach something new to all our clients who attend and give them a fun and positive experience.

With the 4th of July approaching (tomorrow!) what will be your plans to tire out your canine partner before the night activities start? 🎆

Join us tomorrow for our Paws & Progress with Sage training walk! The goal will be to tire out our four-legged companions with an early morning training walk through Esther Shore park in Vancouver, WA. Their will be many opportunities to practice your obedience skills, test impulse control, enforce polite leash walking, and reward for dog-to-dog neutrality. And of course to rehearse and reward any good habits you’re already working on.

Our start time will be at 8am and end at 9am, right before the Vancouver Farmers Market starts.

🐾 If you’re looking to tire out your dog mentally and physically before the busy evening ahead, join us! We have 4 slots still available for tomorrow morning.
