šŸ’•Meet Marley, Harley, Fernly & MarronšŸ’•

These four amazing pups are arriving on Long Island October 24 and are looking for foster or forever homes.

I had the pleasure of meeting them today at Saint Francis Farm in South Carolina, and they are all as sweet as can be!

šŸ¤Ž Marley (7 months, 50 lbs) is an adorable, quirky little guy who’s still very much a puppy. He’s got the wiggles, the sweetest gentle nature, and absolutely loves his treats. He already knows sit, gives paw, gives hugs, and loves going for walks. He’s done wonderfully in his crate and is ready to bring lots of smiles to his future family.

šŸ–¤ Harley (8 months, 45 lbs) is Marley’s brother and the more laid-back of the two. He’s incredibly handsome, sweet and gets along well with everyone he meets—people and dogs alike. Crate and leash trained. He has a calm, independent personality that makes me think he’ll be a wonderfully easy companion.

šŸ¤ Fernly (3 years) was rescued from a hoarding case and is thriving. He walks nicely on leash, does well in his crate, gets along well with other dogs, and absolutely loves attention! What a doll. He ate like a gentleman from my hand today, gave me the sweetest of kisses and quickly became a favorite with everyone he met.

🐾 Marron (10 weeks, 15 lbs) is cute as a button! He has all the playful puppy energy you’d expect but is already potty trained, crate trained, not a big chewer, and doing amazingly well with leash training. He’s truly an exceptional little pup.

ā¤ļø Could one of these amazing dogs be your next best friend? If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please apply to Last Chance Animal Rescue - NY and please share.

She is the perfect reminder that animal rescue never takes a day off!

Packing up to leave Long Island after 6 months at the beach to head back to Florida.
After making a few last stops last night to deliver pet food to local families I came home and noticed a frightened kitten searching for scraps near my grill.

I looked at her and thought, ā€œNo. Not today…I’m leaving.ā€

But rescue has a funny way of choosing you.

There was no way I would ever leave, knowing she needs help. So, I approached, I followed, I tracked and eventually trapped her (she wants no part of me so I’m rather certain she’s feral.)

So today, before we head south, my final rescue mission here is bringing this beautiful girl to Leslie with Li Kitties. She will have her spayed, vaccinated, and safely released into a caring feral colony where she’ll have food, shelter, and other cats to call family.

It’s always bittersweet leaving our NY home because there is always one more animal, one more family, one more need. But this isn’t goodbye—it’s simply the next chapter.

Now it’s time to head back to Florida, where our Vero Beach Lori’s Ark Pet Pantry will continue serving families in need with the incredible help of my beyond amazing friend, ļæ¼rescue partner & sister from another mister who has been keeping things running while I’ve been away Dale Marie Smith Sarasin & her beautiful assistant Carlee Smith
The work never stops, and neither do we!

I truly believe this is going to be the biggest year Lori’s Ark Animal Rescue has ever had. We have so many exciting plans to help more animals, support more families, and make an even greater impact in our communities. I can’t wait to share what’s ahead with all of you. To every volunteer, donor, foster, transporter, adopter, supporter, and friend—thank you for believing in our mission. You are the heart of Lori’s Ark, and none of this would be possible without you. ā¤ļø

Sometimes the very last thing you do before leaving is the thing you’re meant to do.

Now…Florida, here we come!

Our boys aren’t pets—they’re family. ā¤ļø

Every day I prepare fresh, organic meals not only for our own dogs, but also for the foster dogs in our care. They deserve the very best.

For the past few months, I’ve been adding Ruff Road Remedies Rescue Recovery to every meal, and I couldn’t be happier. It gives me peace of mind knowing they’re getting added nutritional support alongside the fresh food I make with love.

When you dedicate your life to rescuing and caring for animals, you want every meal to help them thrive!

Our rescue partner, Whitney Knowlton Lowery founder of Last Chance Animal Rescue created this amazing wellness powder. Please check it out!

I think he will be just fine. Plus, he’s in the best of hands! Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center

REMEMBER: If ļæ¼you find an injured seagull, you should safely contain it in a ventilated cardboard box (if you are able to do so safely & are comfortable) and contact a local licensed wildlife rehabilitator immediately.

Wear thick gloves and potentially eye protection: Seagulls are large birds with powerful, sharp beaks and can inflict a painful bite when frightened.Toss a towel or blanket over the bird: This calms the bird, blocks its vision, and keeps its wings pinned safely against its body.

Scoop the bird up by supporting its body. Never lift a bird by its wings, legs, or head.
Place it in a secure box: Transfer the seagull into a dark, breathable cardboard box lined with a towel or paper towels.
Do not give food or water!
Feeding an injured bird or forcing water can cause aspiration, choking, or death.Keep it quiet and warm: Put the box in a dark, quiet room away from pets, children, and loud noises to lower stress.
Call a professional: Contact a local animal shelter, veterinarian, or wildlife rescue center.

Rescue isn’t textbook… it’s about reading the animal in front of you.

This juvenile seagull was at Ponquogue Beach parking lot, exhausted and unable to get himself to safety. I covered him with & gently wrapped him in a towel to reduce his stress.

I attempted placing him in my transport box, always my preferred transport method. But, immediately he became frightened, flapping and struggling. I was worried he would injure himself further. When I held him close with the towel and gently kept his wings secure, he relaxed.

Since the Rescue Center was only 8 minutes away, and I had my steady driver Stephen Costello I chose to keep him calm for the short trip rather than risk him hurting himself. Every rescue is different, and often you must adjust based on what the animal is telling you.

I’m happy to say he made it safely into the hands of the amazing team at Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue (where I got my wildlife rescue certification years ago) where he’ll get the care he needs.

A big thank you to everyone who watches out for wildlife and calls when an animal is in trouble. Every life matters. ā¤ļøšŸ•Šļø THANK YOU Sue Tocci
