Leading the no-kill philosophy in Napa County. WCAL is a donor-funded and foster-based rescue group WCAL leads the no kill philosophy in Napa County.

Saving lives by transporting adoptable animals from high-risk area shelters and placing them in loving foster homes or with partner rescue organizations that share our values. We fund no-cost spay/neuter programs in upper Napa Valley and in Lake County to decrease the number of unwanted animals born in our area. WCAL also provides one-time emergency financial assistance to animals in life-threatening situations whose owners are facing sudden hardship. Assisting with all things animal related in the Upper Napa Valley and surrounding areas.

FOUND DOG - This young female dog was found on Quietwater Ridge near Wikiup overlooking Reibli and Santa Rosa. A WCAL volunteer scanned her, but there was no microchip. While we may not be posting on social media quite as often, we are still actively supporting animals in the community. WCAL board members Mark, Wendy & Donna attended National Night Out at Pioneer Park as well as the Back to School Celebration at Calistoga Elementary School. They got to mingle with past adopters gushing about their pets, give out prizes and remind other folks about the various free spay/neuter programs we're funding (thanks to our loyal donors!). The good music and Mexican street corn was just icing on the cake! Every outreach event reminds us just how special our community continues to be and how much the welfare of dogs and cats matters 🧡

Update: ADOPTED TOGETHER!

🐱🧡🐱 Please help this pair of tortoiseshell beauties find a wonderful new home! Their senior human has passed away and, sadly, no one in her family is unable to adopt Mabel & Bobby. This pair of sisters is 6 years old and they are friendly, nice cats. Mabel is outgoing and chatty, not afraid to meow for pets. Bobby has a light mark near her nose and she loves to cuddle once she gets to know you. Both girls are spayed and use a litterbox. They also enjoy going outside if you have a cat safe neighborhood or a great patio for sunbathing.
Mabel & Bobby are in St Helena and eagerly awaiting a new home to call their own ~ ideally, together. To meet the girls, please call or text Courtney at X 🐾 Thank you for sharing!

At WCAL, we're nuts about spay & neuter! And the good people volunteering at Pet Fix this weekend really get us 🥜✂️
What if people weren’t giving away litter after litter of free kittens online because they were finally able to spay their pet cat and she stopped slipping out every time she was in heat? What if volunteers had the resources for massive TNR campaigns? Until that dream is a reality, we are putting every cent towards sponsoring spay/neuter in our area. Every donation that comes in is helping animals. Today is day 3 of another long weekend of spay/neuter. 41 cats & 28 dogs were altered yesterday and there is still one full day to go!

Ready for another day of spay/neuter!? This is our dream weekend. Three full days of s/n 🧡 All of us at WCAL dream of the day when people are able to spay their animals and volunteers without waiting months for an appointment. No more oops litters. Can you imagine how awesome it would be if there weren't sick, skinny puppies being given away in front of grocery stores each weekend? We sure can!

It's a beautiful day to kick off another Pet Fix - Lake County and spay some animals! Look at all these smiling faces. Today 32 cats and 10 dogs are checked in and spay/neuter surgeries are well underway. The need continues to be overwhelming and over 150 families from Clearlake called to sign up their dogs for this weekend. Sadly, it wasn't possible to make room for everyone who applied. As long as our donors support this mission, WCAL will continue to fund as many spay/neuter surgeries as possible in our community. We area small non-profit who raises funds one $20 gift at a time. By pooling our resources and teaming up with the folks at Clearlake Animal Association and the SPCA of Lake County we are accomplishing big things. Thank you to everyone who is helping us move the needle with this meaningful work 🧡

FOUND CAT - This super friendly girl kitty has been hanging out at the 600 block of Petrified Forest Road the past few days. That's just outside of Calistoga in Napa County near More 4 Less. We were asked to help find her humans! Unfortunately she has no microchip. 🐈‍⬛ WCAL alumni update! Remember this senior kitty who came to WCAL from the Napa Shelter?
"Sylvester is living his best life and I can’t imagine life without him! He is truly at my side at most times, but his favorite nap spot is on top of our dining room cabinet. He jumps from the kitchen counter over to the small part of the fridge that sticks out of a cupboard up to the china hutch. Sylvester is part of the pack with the dogs and he likes the daily routine of going to let the chickens out and doing some napping in the sun while I garden. And then trots back in with us when we go in. He is such a character! He eats so much ( still messy) but never got fat."
Sylvester was the lucky recipient of a full dental before adoption and he doesn't have any teeth now. He also lives with kidney disease and a chronic calicivirus infection, but none of this seems to be keeping him from his happily ever after. He is now 13 years old! WCAL sponsors his prescription canned food and we never get tired of updates like these 😊
