Today we closed out our breeding season with a pregnancy confirmation on our sweet Diva to The Platinum Ticket!

Diva is the first broodmare we bought and I could make a loonnnngggg post about all the great things she brings to the table. She still makes me smile every time I ride her. Shes a very cool mare with a no nonsense disposition (thank you Corey Lewis for her start). Fun fact for inquiring minds….shes Zans (YOUR ZAN STRAIT) Momma!

The 2nd IRHA show is in the books! This weekend was one of adaptations, looking for and finding the positives and GROWING!

We headed to Indiana with 2 horses to meet up with the Ranger Point crew. YOUR ZAN STRAIT and SIMPLE RED WRAPPER. Both boys were at the May show 3 weeks ago. At that show Duffy brewed an abscess and wasn’t able to show and Zan rode in his first show. He was a rockstar!

BET SHESA WRAPPER “Iggy” is in training with Ranger Point Ranch Horses the things she is putting together are so cool! Watch out futurity season - this is going to be fun!

This weekend…… Kasey graciously “catch” rode Duffy. She showed him in JR horse ranch trail and ranchmanship. He is just a super cool guy and is developing into a great show horse! RPRH you knocked it out of the park, giving Duffy such a great start! He gave some great rides and we are super proud of him!

Zan….this was probably the hardest weekend of work he has had in his 4 years. He hit his limit and showed us what a super tired cranky Zan is. Dangerous absolutely not, surprised me yes. He was cranky with other horses and grew more leery of other horses in the warm up pen. As he got tired it became more of a challenge to get good communication, good lead departures, etc. BUT we did it! Even when I got tired and frustrated Kasey encouraged me kept me going and didn’t let me quit doing the right thing. Our rides weren’t as beautiful as I had wanted but man did we grow and learn! Zan placed 3/3 in all age geldings halter. And we didn’t place in ranch trail or ranchmanship but I believe we (I) learned more in those rides than if we had placed!

Both boys recovered well and are back to work!

For anyone who goes to or produces open shows

Beginning December 1, 2026, NOHSA will implement a free Show Approval Program for all shows whose exhibitors participate in NOHSA. Show managers will be required to submit a simple, free show application prior to the start date of in order for their shows to count for NOHSA.

The new process is designed to make reporting results easier, improve record accuracy and provide additional visibility for participating shows.

Already submitting your show to the NOHSA Calendar? Nothing changes for you. Approved shows will automatically be added to the calendar as part of the process.

Exhibitors will still be required to submit their results following the show, but will be able to simply select the show they attended from a drop-down. No more tracking down emails and information! 🎉

Posting events out of order 😬.

Today we took 4 geldings to Lexington to be the horses for a judging competition

We took a variety of seasoned to green horses and riders and I’m SOO pleased with everyone!

“Zan” YOUR ZAN STRAIT

“Hemi” SALTY BLUE RODEO

These boys were mannerly and every horse/rider combination had big wins together. Whether that was being their first time in a “show” setting or recovering from a long Ranch horse show where he had a little attitude (see tomorrows post 😅)

Great experiences were had!

*hours of research - videos, conformation, disposition, pros & cons

*vet work to prepare, breed, and maintain pregnancies. Cultures, scans, lutalyse, HCG, deslorelein, lavage, oxytocin, Regumate…..

*early mornings, late nights and all nighters to keep a close eye on everything and hope for the best outcomes

*constant evaluation of your nutrition, securing high quality forage

*and let’s not forget starting these babies with basic skills to be successful. Halters, ferrier, turning in/out, trailers and more

WE ARE A SMALL BREEDER and we choose all of the long days and nights to produce the best horses we can 💕

Duffy and Zan are embracing show prep by taking every opportunity to grab a nap and tell us they are overworked 🤣

IRHA show next weekend so we are riding and training very focused and with specific intention.

Ahh breeding season….

The tools of survival.
*Is it the anticipation of the 𝓦𝓱𝓲𝓽𝓮 𝓫𝓸𝔁?
*Lots of 𝕮𝖔𝖋𝖋𝖊𝖊
*ℝ𝕖𝕘𝕦𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕖 to level out your emotional ups and downs?

We bred our last mare for this year! (Still standing Snowden for outside mares). 14 days and we hopefully will have a conception!

Breeding is a big commitment, mentally, financially, your time, logistics and emotions. The long days and nights, missed functions, the highs and lows of breeding and foaling are a commitment we’ve made to produce quality horses for our own program and yours.

As we focus on our foals from this year watch for pictures and videos of their progress. It will be time to wean and decide who to sell and who to keep very soon!

Reach out if you are interested in a foal from this year or next years. We do take deposits on in utero foals.
