Science has spoken!

A few months ago, we did an Embark Vet DNA test to gain a better understanding of Tucker. We were VERY certain on one of the breeds in the mix, and we all had our guesses for the rest.

When we received the results, it all made perfect sense! Tucker is a blend of Field Golden (Goblin) Retriever 🤪 and German Shepherd (The Protector) 🛡️. There are two other breeds (Terrier and Lab) in there somewhere, but he didn't inherit enough of their traits to stand out like his main ones.

The absolute best part of the test is that we were able to connect with Tucker’s family! When we received his results, Embark identified a match to a sibling and his mom. This connection led us to learning more about Tucker, including the sweetest detail—that his mom and sibling were actually adopted together! 🥺🐾

Happy National Rescue Dog Day!!

This past fall, we opened our doors to Tucker as a foster dog. We had no intention of keeping him, but life had other plans. Within just a couple of months, it became crystal clear that he had already found his forever home.

Tucker was overlooked by so many potential adopters because of his high energy. In a shelter, that excitement can look overwhelming. But for us? He fit right in with our high-energy Labs! He wasn't "too much"—he was exactly what our pack was missing.

We are so incredibly thankful for the chance to adopt Tucker and watch him form an unbreakable bond with our family and our other dogs. Foster failing was the best decision for our family. ❤️
