❤️🇺🇸 What an AMAZING day at the farm! 🇺🇸❤️
Today we had the privilege of welcoming a wonderful group of senior military veterans to Peacefield Farms—and what a gift they were to us!
They arrived with smiles, positive attitudes, incredible stories, and so much gratitude simply for being able to spend the day at the farm. And honestly, we were the grateful ones. ❤️
One gentleman was visiting us for his second time, and this time he had one thing on his mind…
He wanted to ride. So ride he did! 🐴
And not just on any horse—he climbed aboard Admiral, one of the biggest horses at Peacefield Farm!
Standing over 18 hands tall, Admiral is a magnificent Belgian Heavy Draft who, in his previous “career,” was a logger.
These days, though, Admiral has a new specialty:
Making people feel loved. ❤️🐴
But there was another moment today that was especially meaningful.
One of our veterans, “B,” has spent much of his life around horses. Long before Alzheimer’s began making some things more difficult, horses were a huge part of his life. He cared for them, raised them, bred them, and spent countless hours involved with driving pacers and trotters in the harness racing world on Long Island.
Today, enter stage right, Luke. 🐴❤️
Luke seemed to know something about B before the two of them had even met.
There was a quiet connection between them today that was difficult to put into words. No explanation was needed.
No story had to be told. Just a man who has loved horses for most of his life—and a horse who seemed to recognize that love without a single word being spoken.
It was one of those moments that makes you stop, watch, and simply say, “Wow.”
There is something uniquely beautiful about horses.
They don't need our words. They can sense what is in us—and sometimes, they give us a way to connect when words aren't enough.
Today reminded us again that the horses aren't just part of what we do. They are part of the healing. ❤️🐴
And a huge THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers who come out, give their time, and pour their hearts into making days like today so special for our visiting heroes. And a big thanks to Stacy Bajza and Kathy Brennan Hart for your leadership and always keeping us keenly aware for safety's sake!
We are blessed to serve those who have served. 🇺🇸
Sometimes we think we're bringing the horses to the veterans.
Days like today remind us that the horses are bringing something to us, too. ❤️🐴🇺🇸
