Poodles. Here is an explanation of why some poodles have perfectly round top knots and why some may not. Texture. Us groomers have to improvise for each individual poodle’s hair cut. Some are thin on top, some are aging and have hair loss, some are born with finer hair, some won’t stand still long enough to keep super sharp shears close to the ears and head, etc.
I don’t force any dog to do anything they’re terrified of. I talk them through it and do the best I can.
This being said, I resent one particular groomer who keeps pushing the untrue fact that she’s the best and she treats dogs better than any other groomer, and blah blah blah. I know every groomer around me within a 40 mile radius and not one mistreats dogs, and each groomer is just as good as the other. Some are young and still learning. I’m old and still learning 😂. Something new nearly every single day. So hopefully this new groomer will hop off her high horse and come down to earth with the rest of us.
I’m opposed to only showing my best work(same exact photo(s) over and over and over… I show all regardless- not just a handful of my best).
And products. Each groomer has a favorite brand that works best for them. Who’s to say which products are the best unless you’re buying shampoo from Walmart). If shampoos are running $70-$130 per gallon, it’s high quality.
By the way groomer, I’ve been grooming now for almost 24 years, went to grooming school, continuing ed seminars, asked to compete(which I wasn’t interested in), travel around grooming show dogs(which I also wasn’t interested in), and all of my customers are very happy and have been for many years. The handful who left either moved and still travel back here three and four hours away. AND I don’t overcharge! I know how to dematt without leaving chunks in the coat, and my SECRET ROOM where I groom is for the safety of the dogs. They don’t try to jump off the table because they can’t see who comes in and they can’t accidentally run out the door. My customers come in and sit down in my lobby and they’re comfortable thank you. I also board dogs, and they’re so happy to come here- they’re so excited, run in. And I do everything single-handedly. Maybe you’ll be more well received if you’ll tone it down and quit trying to cut throat.
Instead of being aggressive towards your fellow groomer friends. I’m sure you do a decent job but….
The only problem I have here is that there are only 24 hours in a day. Rant over.
Oh… I don’t give poodles high waters 😉
