Guardian Paws Service Dogs Guardian Paws Service Dog is an Idaho based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. GPSD does not have a breeding program and never takes possession of the dog.

We teach Veterans & 1st Responders how to train their SERVICE CONNECTED PTSD and ambulatory service dog at NO COST. Guardian Paws Service Dogs, GPSD, trains, advocates and educates for Veterans and their Service Dogs in the Treasure of Idaho at NO COST. If a Veteran has a dog, one of our lead trainers will temperament test the dog to see if the dog is appropriate to be a service dog. If the veteran's dog is not appropriate to be a service dog or the veteran does not have a dog, GPSD will help find a dog specifically for the veteran. We work with local shelter's and rescue groups to find dogs for our program. GPSD is operated solely by donations and volunteers who have a passion to give back to our veterans. If you know of a veteran in need, please reach out to us. If the veteran is in the Treasure Valley, please reach out to 208-914-3167.

Went to see Heart Of The Beast tonight with the Guardian Paws Service Dogs crew. It was a great movie but I did ugly cry for the last 15 minutes of the movie. The movie does have scenes that may be hard for some. The Veteran, Brad Pitt, has flash backs that may be difficult for some Vets. It may very well cause your own PTSD flash backs to come to the Odin ( the k9 in the movie) was amazing. He is everything to love about a GSD. PLEASE note, GSD are NOT for every handler. They are extremely intelligent and have a mind of their own. If there is not a pack oder they will create one and they will be the alpha. Leave the GSD for experienced handlers.

PTSD TRIGGER WARNING

If don't understand be thankful.
So many live a life that when everyone is sleeping they don't have that luxury. The demons like to come play at night. They hit when you are most vulnerable. They lie and tell you "you are not worthy", "you are a burden, "they won't miss you", " how can anyone love someone like you", "if they knew what you did they would leave you". THE DEMONS ARE LIARS!!!! YOU ARE VALUED! YOU ARE NEEDED! YOU ARE LOVED! YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS FIGHT! YOU HAVE 100% SUCCESS LEVEL MAKING IT TO ANOTHER DAY!

If you love someone with PTSD you are not alone. Our caregivers carry their own trauma. Watching someone you love get lost in the pain or trauma IT SUCKS ! Loving someone so deeply but then you can't protect them. You can't make it better no matter how hard you try. You want to "fix" them but how do you fix a shattered mirror?

Caregivers develop their own trauma. We know if we go out, we don't pick where we sit. IF you can get out of the house for get together, you are prepared to leave at any moment. Just because you had a great morning doesn't mean the demons won't come wreck havoc that night. The nights you don't get to sleep because your Veteran/1st Responder is having a bad night and you are talking them through the night terrors. You wake every morning wondering what will the day bring? Doc appointments? Grocery Shopping ? Bad mood? Pi$$ed at the world and don't know why? Our life is different. Not better or worse just

Thank you for staying another day ❤️ ~Tina Day
