🚪🐾 Threshold Training!
This is what we mean by teaching a dog boundaries not just commands.
In this video, my client walks through the side gate from the backyard into the front yard, and watch what the dog does…
She stays behind the threshold completely on her own. No “stay.” No “wait.” No repeated commands. She has learned that the gate is a boundary she does not cross unless she is invited.
That kind of self-control is what we want to build through training. ❤️
Threshold training can help dogs learn to pause and think instead of simply following their impulse to rush through an open door or gate.
The goal isn’t obedience through constant commands, it’s teaching our dogs to make good choices even when we aren’t telling them what to do. 🐾
And THAT is a skill worth celebrating! 👏
