Today we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away.
And among those heroes were hundreds who walked on four paws. 🐾
Search-and-rescue dogs and their handlers worked tirelessly through the rubble, using their training, trust and incredible bond to search for survivors and bring comfort in the days that followed.
They didn’t understand what had happened. They simply knew there was a job to do and a person beside them who needed them.
As people who know just how extraordinary the bond between humans and dogs can be, this part of the story will always hold a special place in our hearts.
25 years later, we remember the lives lost.
We honor those who served.
And we will never forget. 🇺🇸🐾
