We can’t understand how this handsome boy hasn’t found his family yet! Rocky is approximately one year old and has come such a long way since being rescued from life on a tie-out.

He is a playful, energetic boy who loves toys, playing fetch, attention and spending time with people. Rocky is good with other dogs and children and would love an active family to include him in their adventures. ❤️

Rocky is neutered, vaccinated and ready to begin the next chapter of his life. He deserves a safe, loving home where he will never again feel forgotten.

Look at these amazing gifts we received from two very special ladies who saw our need—even before we shared our Amazon Wish List! 🥹🐾

We haven’t received any packages in several weeks, so this was a much-needed reminder that people see what we’re doing, believe in our mission, and want to help us continue. Every puppy pad, treat, toy, and supply will make such a difference for the dogs in our care.

To these two wonderful ladies: thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Your kindness and generosity mean more than you know. This is truly awesome! 💙🐶

🐾 EDUCATIONAL POST: Is Mange Contagious? 🐾

The answer depends on the type of mange:

🔸 Sarcoptic mange, also called scabies, is highly contagious between dogs. It can spread through direct contact or shared bedding, crates, collars and grooming supplies. It may also cause a temporary itchy rash in people.

🔸 Demodectic mange, or Demodex, is generally not contagious. These mites normally live on dogs’ skin, but they can cause problems when a dog’s immune system is immature or weakened.

Common signs of mange include:

🐾 Hair loss
🐾 Severe itching
🐾 Red or inflamed skin
🐾 Crusty or scaly patches
🐾 Open sores from scratching

Several conditions—including fleas, allergies and ringworm—can look similar, so a veterinarian must determine the cause and recommend the correct treatment.

If you suspect mange, keep the dog separated from other pets, avoid sharing supplies, wash bedding and contact your veterinarian.

Education and early treatment can prevent unnecessary suffering and help protect other animals. Please share! ❤️

🐾 BLAST Supply Wish List — We Could Really Use a Hand! 🐾

With so many dogs currently in rescue — especially puppies — we are going through supplies like crazy! 🐶💛 Puppies are adorable…but they are definitely messy. 😂

Right now, our biggest needs are:

• Washable/reusable p*e pads, Disposable puppy pads
• Syringes, worming medicine
• Disinfectant Wipes
• Puppy & adult dog food

Even one pack of pads or one bag of food makes a difference and helps us stretch our rescue funds toward vaccines, vet care, spay/neuter appointments and transports.

🚨 MACY & LACY BROKE OUT OF THE WYOMING COUNTY SHELTER! 🚨

These sweet girls desperately needed a safe place after the shelter went code red. Macy and Lacy were dumped on a mountain and brought to the shelter back in May. Their brother was adopted months ago, but the girls continued to wait—and their time was running out.

When we learned they were scheduled to be euthanized, we knew we had to say YES. Thanks to the humane officer who advocated for them, a wonderful supporter who never gave up on them, and the amazing foster who stepped up and opened her home, Macy and Lacy are now safe with Bonnie’s Haven–BLAST. ❤️

Rescue truly takes a team, and these girls are alive today because people came together for them.

Take your freedom ride, girls! Your old life is behind you, and your better life begins now. 🐾

🐾 BLAST’s August Achievements! 🐾

August was our busiest month yet, and we are incredibly proud of everything our small, foster-based rescue accomplished!

During August, we:

🐶 Welcomed several dogs and puppies into rescue, including Mya and her seven puppies
🚨 Pulled Macy and Lacy from a code-red shelter when they were out of time
🚐 Completed transports to our rescue partners
🏡 Celebrated Roxie finding her forever home
✂️ Helped provide 14 community spay and neuter procedures
🥫 Served more than 33 local families through our community pet pantry
💉 Provided food, vaccines, deworming, veterinary care and other essential supplies
🎟️ Held fundraisers to help cover the growing cost of caring for the animals who depend on us

As of right now, we have 26 dogs in our care spread across multiple foster homes! Would also like to say we have dogs in our care from 4 different counties Wyoming, Boone, Kanawha and Putnam. None of this would be possible without our fosters, volunteers, transport drivers, rescue partners, donors and everyone who shares our posts.

✨ No more babies for these girls! ✨

Ginger and Maryann were both spayed today! These sweet mamas gave birth to the 12 beagle-mix puppies now known as our Practical Magic Crew. 🐾🔮

They did their job raising those beautiful babies, and now it’s their turn to enjoy a future without any more litters! 😜 Spaying saves lives and helps break the cycle—two more mamas officially fixed! 💜🐶

🐾 A Quick Reminder About Adoptions 🐾

We’ve received several messages lately asking about puppies for adoption. If a puppy or dog is available for local adoption, we will post them on our page with all available information.

Most of our puppies are transferred to trusted partner rescues in areas with greater adoption opportunities. This helps them find safe, loving homes more quickly and allows BLAST to continue helping animals in need.

For dogs available through BLAST, every potential adopter must complete an adoption application and be approved. Approved adoptions require an adoption fee and a signed contract stating that the dog must be returned to BLAST if the adopter can no longer care for them.

We do not rescue animals from unsafe or uncertain situations only to place them back into one. Our responsibility is to find each animal a safe, loving and committed furever home. Their well-being will always come first. 💕
