After 12 years of loyalty, his family handed the leash to the shelter and left.

This is Buster. Look at that tan face. Today should have been spent napping on his rug at home. Instead, he is sitting on a cold concrete floor in a loud shelter, staring at the door his family walked out of.

They said he was "too old" and "getting in the way." Buster is confused. He keeps pacing his kennel, looking for the kids he watched grow up. He doesn't understand that they aren't coming back. A shelter environment is a death sentence for a senior cocker. He is depressed, refusing to eat, and his heart is breaking right in front of us.

We pulled him just minutes before he was scheduled to be euthanized. No senior dog deserves to end their life feeling like trash.

Status: Let’s find him a retirement home where he is cherished.
