Focus on Ferals Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all community cats, including feral cats who have the least resources and avenues for help.

We do this through Trap-Neuter-Return, and an adoption program for homeless, friendly cats. Being either born in the wild and never having had human contact, or reverting to a wild state after having been abandoned; the great majority of feral cats cannot be tamed. Generally, attempts at taming or adoption of ferals prove to be fruitless. Our efforts can be realized one-hundred-fold if we do the greatest good for the greatest number of ferals by stopping the cycle of reproduction. Communities can help these forgotten cats by providing them with food, water, shelter, and spaying/neutering services through the "Trap-Neuter-Return" full management program. Briefly, TNR consists of the humane trapping, sterilization, and return of feral cats to their familiar habitat to be cared for daily by dedicated volunteers. Kittens under eight weeks and/or tame cats are placed into adoption programs.

Welcome to FOF 💜

Intake has been painfully slow here. Managing an insane amount of adoption returns, along with slow adoptions, have meant we can’t help many new cats. But when a volunteer asked us for help with these black and white beauties, we said yes. She had already done most of the vetting and was willing to foster them. Having someone willing to go so far out of their way, should always be recognized and given help whenever possible. Individuals simply don’t have the reach to place a lot of adult cats on their own….but many rescues do.

These 5 had been living in a managed colony.
In 2024 our volunteer Amanda TNR’d 12 adult cats and rescued 8 kittens from this old lady's house. This year the woman was forced to move because of unfit living conditions, and she told Amanda about her upcoming move and asked if she could take care of her cats. She couldn't take them with her, but she also didn't know when she would be moving. Then one day Amanda got a call that she had moved and the cats were on their own. Amanda placed four of them in a barn home and helped with the relocation process. She trapped another 4 and took them home to foster and assess temperaments. Six weeks later she got info that there was still a cat living in the bushes at the house 😔. One had been missed. Bernard was so hungry it took a whole two minutes to get him in a trap.

All 5 cats are sweet and adoptable! What a great thing Amanda did. We are happy to place these cats for adoption through our organization. And all these kitties are hoping someone will see their little faces and fall in love. 🥰

The nights 🌖 are getting colder! Now is the perfect time to help your community cats get comfortable with their winter shelters before the true cold weather arrives. ❄️🐈

We have 119 foam cooler style winter shelters available. Plus a handful of plastic totes and hard side coolers also available! ☃️

❄️ Winter Shelter Update! ❄️

We had a great turnout on Saturday and gave out 84 shelters plus 20 bags of fresh straw!! Almost everyone gave a donation which means we have $900 now to purchase heavy duty plastic totes. Home Depot has 27 gallon (perfect size) for $8.98 and they finally have a nice inconspicuous color: olive green!

We still have 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ foam shelters and will be assembling the plastic tote shelters asap. Stay tuned for more distribution dates in 📆 October!

The best thing about this program (aside from the obvious sheltering of street cats)….is seeing how many people show up for shelters because they feed and care about community cats 🐈‍⬛💜.

We are asking for new monthly donors.

Our rent is now $2,015 due on the 1st of every month. We are extremely fortunate and grateful to already have 51 people signed up for monthly donations, totaling $1365.

This is the only income we know is coming in every month. All other income (adoption fees, one time donations, any grants we may have received, and fundraisers)…are ever changing, irregular, and cannot be counted on as a sure thing.

💵 Our HOPE is to gain enough new monthly donors to completely cover the 🏠 rent. Which means we still need another $650. If this is something you can help with, we would love to add you to our loyal supporters who make everything here financially possible.

⭐️ Wonderful Cats ⭐️ Await Homes at PetSmart ⭐️

Please check out the kitties we have currently in store, hoping to get the attention of a good 🏡 home!!

🩶 Declan is an adoption return. “Splitting up/moving/can’t take”…the usual! Declan is a sweet boy whose mom might cut his hair, and who loves people, but will do best as an only cat.

🤎 Kimberlee was rescued when her owner became homeless. She had a single kitten who she was neglecting 😞 because she wants all the attention for herself 👑.

🧡 Carrot was taken from the same home as Kimberlee, although there is no relation. He is an ACTIVE and super curious little ginger 🥕 who will do great with a new home where he can run and play.

🖤 Ronnie and Rumpus are brothers who have come SO far with social skills and are more than ready to start their next chapter in a real home! Can go together or separate, just need another buddy!

🤍 Brosa is last of his litter. A kind person rescued them from the side of the road during a trip to Detroit. He is playful and independent and will be a great kitten companion to any home.

♥️ Stefany was also collateral damage from the housing crisis when her owner was living in his car. She is a beautiful loving young lady who deserves a stable home!

💛 D***y was found stray in a trailer park. He had a chip but the owner could never be reached so we have to assume he was abandoned 😔. He is a GOOD BOY who is also ready and waiting to be cherished!

October looks scary….🫣

We can’t sugarcoat this because we are operating with a skeleton crew and those people are getting burned out. We NEED more help with cleaning shifts. ***Especially evening shifts which run 5-8pm. There are also openings for extra help on morning shifts 8-11ish, and some midday shifts (if you prefer to work alone in our garage area, this is a great fit for you!).

If you are able to do physical work like scooping litter, mopping 🪣 and washing 🧽 dishes, please help us. Our cats love having a clean and comfortable shelter but they sure do make a lot of messes! 🧹

Volunteers must be reliable, have transportation, and be over 18. You also need to be able to commit to 2️⃣ shifts per month.

We have FOUR orange females and are shocked and disappointed none have been adopted yet 😞. Female cats must inherit two orange genes, one from each parent, to be orange. Male cats only need to inherit one orange gene to be orange. This genetic requirement means that female orange cats are far less common and make up only about 20 per cent of all orange cats.

🍊 Copper is mom to Felicity and all her other kittens have been adopted long ago. She was a great loving mom and is more than ready for her new life to begin. She gets along with other cats and is a young adult with many good years ahead!

☀️ Sunshine was also a mother cat we spayed for her owner back in April. Then they moved and needed to rehome Sunshine plus her 3 grown kittens (now about a year old). Sunshine is also a young adult who gets along with other cats and can’t wait to get out of a cage and begin a new adventure!

🐱 Felicity is still a baby and the last of her litter. She is a mini version of her mom, Copper. Felicity is a very sweet and playful girl who will need a friend in her new home!

🧡 Rusty is a permanent resident here as she is mostly feral and also has FeLV. We adore this girl even though she won’t let us touch her. She has a room with a view and other kitty friends and seems quite content here. But we had to share her striking beauty!

Meet our Gen X crew!

These are our 6-10 year olds. Gen X is the best 😉 generation; chill to the max but if some ish goes down, they’re who you want to handle it 💯. They’ve survived the cassette-tape era 📼, and they don’t care about TikTok trends 🙄. They just want a quiet spot to nap 🥱, maybe listen to some 70’s and 80’s soft rock 🎶, and judge you silently. These fur kids are close to retirement so riding it out sans any drama is top priority. That said, they still know how to have some fun, long as it wraps up by 9pm 😂🕘. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, fully-formed roommate who already knows who they are, check out the lineup!

🎸 The Gen X Lineup

🤎🖤 Morton (M) – The Mixtape Comeback. Returned to the shelter after 2 failed adoptions, and honestly? He’s pretty bummed about it. Morton is a total sweetheart whose love language is a thorough brushing session. Let’s get this boy back into a comfortable home where he belongs.

🖤🤍 Guinness (M) – The High-Maintenance Rockstar. Smooth, classic, and needs a bit of a customized routine. He is allergic to dust mites and takes allergy shots. Guinness also has diabetic management needs (in remission but eats Rx food) but like any seasoned roadie, once you get his routine down, he’s as loyal as they come.

🩶🤍 Tink (M) – The Couch Potato. Tink isn’t interested in chasing laser pointers all night—he’s looking for a dedicated lap and a cozy blanket. Super sweet, totally chill, and ready to binge-watch whatever you've got queued up.

🤎🖤 Roni (F) – The "Get Off My Lawn" Queen. A bigger girl who knows what she wants: peace, quiet, and zero children. If your house is a serene, kid-free sanctuary, Roni will gladly reign over it.

🤎🤍 Bruiser (M) – The Guy Who Likes Everyone. Bruiser is a big guy who loves everyone—people, cats, you name it. He has a sweetheart at our shelter Norry, who we jokingly call his wife, so if you’re looking to adopt an ultimate package deal, these two are ready to move in together.

🖤🖤Tuck (F) – The Solo Artist. Tuck is a sweet girl who loves her humans, but she has a strict "no bandmates" policy. She wants to be your one and only cat. Sweet, sensitive and particular, she must be a pisces ♓️.

🖤🤍 Lacie (F) – The Peace Maker. Loving, easygoing, and gets along great with other felines. Lacie is the cat who keeps the peace and fits seamlessly into any pack.

🖤🤎 Hershey (M) – The Sweetheart. As sweet as his name implies. Hershey is good with other cats and just wants a warm spot to lounge and a family to love.

🖤🤍 Mike & Sully (M & M) – The Grunge Duo. Returned at no fault of their own after several years in a home, these brothers are absolute sweethearts (Mike is a sucker for belly rubs). They could be adopted together as a dynamic duo, or each placed in a home as an only cat.

🤎🤎 Mario (M) – The Gentle Soul. Mario is FIV positive, but don't let that stop you—he’s an absolute honey who just wants to curl up on your lap and purr. Gentle, affectionate, and manly all at the same time. You will swoon over this one!

🤎🧡 Artemis (F) – The Sweet & Salty Icon. Quirky, opinionated, and full of personality. Artemis will keep you guessing, but her soft side makes the sass completely worth it.

🧡🤍 Moki (M) – The Work in Progress. Moki is a BIG boy with a finicky side, but deep down, he's a good guy. He needs to be an only cat—and honestly, he needs a personal trainer. If you’re ready to help him get his steps in, Moki is your guy.
