The drying process… Ideally you are working with a high quality tanned, well thinned and prepped cape. The more effort and time spent in prep work and thinning will show days after the cape is mounted, as well as years down the road. It is absolutely critical of the taxidermist to put the work into preparation to achieve a long lasting product. Slowing the drying process is also another way to retain the details and efforts that went into the form, alterations, clay work and all other mounting processes. Trust the process but don’t forget the process. Short cuts will be found out in time…

We are looking at an ear of a whitetail deer.
On this ear is a patch. But this patch can be avoided. I have multiple guys requesting to bring their whitetails in this fall.
Before the 2026 bow seasons begins I will be making a series of videos to address field care and caping concerns. When it comes to repairs, I will use the absolute best means to do so.
I’m not asking that you to commit a crime.... But... I’m asking for you to avoid poking holes in the animals ear... throw some zip ties in your license holder. After you fill your tag, attach it to the base of an antler. I’m confident the social media experts on law and order will be the strongest penalty you face... let’s not poke holes in the deers ear. The only holes I want to see is behind the shoulder 💪 You best be out practicing 🏹
